  • Saturn's main rings are roughly 10m-4km thick, varying, as determined by the Cassini spacecraft . I was actually quite surprised how thin it could get. Material has been found to range 1cm to 10m in size mostly, but clumping is possible, which later breaks up with impacts. The composition is mostly water ice. Quite interesting. I expected a lot more silicates/rock. Age of the rings are tough to estimate, but vary ~4billion to hundreds of millions of years. It is a dynamic environment.

    How do you know I am wrong, what evidence do you have..scources.

  • Wonderfuly done, Saturn's rings are several dozen miles thick and are made of rocks that rang in size from an inch or so to a fraction of a mile.
