  • wow! i really liked the camera animation, how did you make the effect of the ship going through the gate (i don`t know if i'm explaining correctly, i mean when the ship crosses de gate and i starts to glow)

  • @mwiiplay I recommend watching my tutorial about clipping masks. It might not be the same technique as used in this video, but the outcome is similar.

  • Very cool stuff. I usually see that kind of flickering if the antialiasing isn't set high enough...but of course that means much longer render times.

  • Holy SNOT! That was incredible. What is this, like your very first animation or something? Two years ago. Man, maybe you had some trouble with the shiny ship texture artifacts, but we're always our own harshest critics. This makes the sci-fi thing I'm working on look like crap. Nion, YOU ARE THE MAN!

    I really love this.

  • You know, Instead of saying that the ships textures were glitching out. You could have said that the camouflage armor was damaged in a battle far from the ship.

  • the rendering time was exactly: 48 hours 39 minutes and 40.0876501 seconds

  • My eyr blls fell out of my heaf. I cn bareky typ. Loking for them noe.

  • I think that this strange reflections are double vertices. Two different vertices are on one position. (sorry for my bad english)

  • Make a TUTORIAL... amazing work though...

  • looks sorta like halo

  • I love the shielding effect on the airlock. Very clean and crisp animation.

  • Outstanding work!

  • westin atl TAJIN

  • Very impressive. I thought you would have been a pro. But I read you have only been at it for a few months. That's encouraging because I'm a beginner myself. Not that I will be able to pick it up that quickly but at least someone somewhere has.

  • Needs sound effects. Then it would be amazinger.

  • Can you recommend any tutorials that are most useful?

  • HAHAHAHA SHINY THING... I WANTS IT...

  • DUDE that sick! the only thing i woulda added is a texture to the walls. i think the texture on the spaceship is fine, except the reflection could be turned down a bit so its not like a mirror, unless thats what u were going for. either way, its one of the best animations i've seen on youtube that was made on blender! thumbs up

  • Excellent work

  • Oh my gosh, nice. I Wish I had your skill in blender.

  • how long it took to render this?! very nice!

  • holy crap...thats awesome

  • NionsChannel!!, you are a GENIUS!

    Cheers!

  • мужик, шикарная работа

  • Nice! Really Cool!

  • what did you do to make the blast doors move, the barrier appear , that effect when the ship goes through the barrier and the things that hold the ship ,move?

  • Very cool. That texture problem looks to me like several faces occupying the same spot. I would try the remove doubles thing and see if that works.

  • The lights are rendered together with the whole room and seperated in a second layer. The second layer was blurred and added over the first layer.

  • @NionsChannel can u make a tutorial?

  • not too hard too make but awesome

  • Great job!

I wouldn't worry about the skin rendering. Just think of it as some sort of active stealth coating...

  • I agree. Remember that trick if you ever make a bio ship.

  • Awesome!

  • That was awesome. If this is what you can do just starting off , you have a gift at it.

Maybe go to school for 3-D.

  • Reminds me of Descent 3. Amazing dude. Your a fucking pro. You should be hired by like Microsoft or something for a game design job that pays big bucks for your skill.

  • holy! SHI*

  • Cool, but maby some motion blur would make it look a little more movie like?

  • just amazing. words cannot describe how great this is

  • wow that must have taken forever to render good job!

  • oh my god.....some CGI multi million dollor movies don't look as good as this.....i really don't know what to say...can u really get this good with blender???,how long did it take?,was it easy?or extremly hard?,i just cant belive it O_O..ur incredible!!

  • I haven't thought it was such a big deal. It took about 1 or 2 weeks to make. And I learned Blender only a few months before that.

  • can i use this shot for the opening of a movie i am making?

  • you do very well , my regards

  • Amazing

  • WOW!

  • really nice video man, how much time did you need to render this?

  • A whole day on a 2.8 GHz quad core. It took so much time because of the reflections and the soft shadows.

  • cool, I have a 2.2 core 2 duo macbook, but I'm making a render farm with yadra + old_computers, to reduce the time.

I want to put a free render farm for free(open source) artist at the internet.

So everybody can get their renders in a better time. :) I'm working searching sponsors and planning for that, I will let you know if I get some of this.

    Thank you for your feedback.

  • That would be great.

  • @NionsChannel hear hear... I have a 2.4GHz Quad Core Myself... with 3GB of RAM, and a Terabyte of storage space... of course, the Memory and Clock Speed are what determines the render speed... also, the GPU could be pretty good... but for about a 30 second fully-modeled, textured, and animated sequence, it takes me a good few hours... lol... crazy, really... at NTSC's standard 30 fps...

  • @NionsChannel lol i have got a computer that has 8 2.8 GHz quad core's and a two tb hard drive

  • woow, that's just amazing

  • I'm especially impressed with the force field that the ship flew through (the wavy blue thing), and the way it distorted the image behind it. Would you mind sharing your technique?

  • The background distortion is made with an object + ray transparency + a bump texture linked to an empty object, which constantly moves downwards. It also has a boolean modifier with not rendered dummy objects as its target, so that the shield fits perfectly into the generator form. Unfortunately that modifier causes some bugs as you can see in the video.

  • The wavy blue thing are particles. I used composite nodes similar to what I did in my fire tutorial. The fly-through-emitter is a circle with a shrinkwrap modifier. I also used black dummy objects to hide areas of the particles while establishing and disabling the shield.

  • wow that is amazing! And you made that with blender, kudos...

  • Great video!

  • great job dude:D:D

  • Nice dude

  • wow....

    do u do anything else?

(not in a offending tone just that this was just so impossibly good that u must do this very much)

  • wow thanks for your compliments.

I'm studying IT, and this video was actually made for the elective "3D Computer Animation". There will be a further course next winter. Who knows, what I will come up with then.

  • but seriously this is fantastic!

ive made some blender vids that im very proud of but this is just.... fantastic....

if i get even close to this im a happy man!
