    Customer Reviews:

I changed a jl 300/4 and 1000/1 for these amps... less money and more sound. The 5000d hits harder and uses a lot less power and the 2400/4 is clear and clean. Best bang for your buck trust me.......

  • I think at 1:23 he's trying to prove the similarities by flipping the polarity of one, which perfectly? cancels out each other. From my experience with those plugins, you start to hear the difference with the EQ's,

  • They both have their own flavour. The E-Channel has the warmer fatter sound to it, great for most applications especially drums. The G-Channel can sound a little harsh if you push it too much, but it has more bit and crispness to it. Works great on vocals or dull sounding guitars, just gotta treat her gently ;)

  • There is a difference that E-channel has a bell low and hi shape, which I really prefer for what I do, but G-channel can use a filter as a sidechain and still be able to use the EQ. E-channel uses the filters and EQ as a sidechain. So I prefer G-channel when I want to use the EQ and sidechain filtering at the same time. [which is rather often, actually]

  • I have this plugin but i can't install it 'couse i have win7 and apparentrly don't run on this OS. have you some idea what can i do? if exist some way to use it on W7 or some new version to that OS? thank you for share!

  • @markbowhill Check out Jbridge, it's what I've had to use and works pretty well - 99% of my waes plugins work in Win 7 using Jbridge.

  • Funny, I much prefer a G series strip on an actual SSL..but I like the E strip plug-in better.

  • left one sounds bigger with more dimension. right one sounds a little bit to expanded. left one has more deepness. right one sounds gray and weak. left one sounds more natural and better in many cases. right one sounds cheap and not that good. left one wins this battle.

  • Do Waves SSL 4000 vs SSL Duende Native.

  • I feel the eq's are identical but the compressor on the G is more transparent.

  • Ah, Cubase...An underrated program. As much as it pisses me off sometimes I still prefer it for things like editing.

  • @mmagoon67 I LOVE Cubase. Been on it since 97 in Cubase VST3.5 and been on it ever since through all the versions. Pro Tools? No fools.

  • eq is nice on this, agree with tbizhere, compression is abit overkill. so whats the difference bewteen E and G?

  • @mrconcept E as i understand it is better for tighter Q,s the G is for gently shaping the sound. compressors and gates however are the same, just the eq is different. Am lucky enough to have used the real thing !

  • Its a proven fact that the E-channel (Black) sounds better than the G channel (Grey) so i would have to choose the E channel.

  • @LastDayStudios - proven to sound better? Thats like saying: "it's a proven fact that the color blue looks nicer than the color red".... it all comes down to personal preference. However, If your trying to say that the E-Channel plug-in is a better aural representation of the SSL hardware equivalent then yes, you would probably be correct.

  • @tbizhere actually, youre right tbiz, thats true both plugins give a a distinct color, i prefer the color of the E channel more though.

  • @LastDayStudios - Exactily, I own the E-Channel and love it. Happy music making!

  • @tbizhere Thanks alot bro..... What do you use the E channel on? anything specific that you come to realize it works well on?

  • @LastDayStudios - I use this plug in as a basic channel strip on each of my channels (its like having an SSL board lol). I don't use the compression much - I feel like the compressors release action is a bit too harsh (no matter what the release time is set to). The gate and The EQ however are fantastic, Usually Ill use the gate on individual drums and some vocal parts - For the drum bus ill use the Puigchild 670 (or the SSL G4000) and the Puigtec EQ for Compression / EQ.

  • OK are you series... to all of you guys talking shit about which strip sounds better, get real you're not impressing anyone. they both sound the same - and even if there IS a bit of a difference you could reach it by turning the gain a little bit more and play with the Q.

After testing more than 20 EQ/Dyn plugs u'd figure it isn't so important so choose a favourit and focus on you're music. might as well work with the cubase built in eq to save some time

  • Kinda hard to hear on this video, but having used both consoles, the E series has a slightly warmer, more musical EQ than the G channel, but you are able to be a little more surgical and precise with the G. Both are fantastic though.

  • I just bought this plug in & it came in a white box....Is that normal???

  • These are modled after some clasic thought to be the best compressors the sl4000rack , the e and g are different , Universal electronics say they make the best emulation of the sl4000 but who knows without a side by side comparison of the plugins.

  • punchy

  • i can't tell the difference

  • E-Channel pwned g-channel

  • g-channel is so close to the ssl mixer i was training on. e-channel can get really harsh sometimes.... on the G, use hmf with 6db @ 1k-3k is so dope after you pull back the lpf a bit. great vid, more plz.

  • e-channel sounded a tiny bit better on the eq

  • @ScorchinBeats

    I agree

  • Respond to this video...

I Agree the E sounds a little better.

  • @atakmuzik I don't know that is a little to close to call

  • @headbagger63 These kind of tests require a nice monitoring system to tell the difference. With a 20 track test, it would be more noticeable.

With $50 Logitech speakers you can't notice it.

  • @Lgw1984 true

  • @headbagger63 Speaking from the point of view of my own personal experience using the plugins.

Not totally from this video is my opinion based sorry for not making that clear.

  • Wow, that E-Channel EQ sounds great!

  • i think the G-chennel was dope

  • So what's the difference ?

  • @MarkyGoldstein

Are you color blind ? One is gray, the other one is black.

  • @ESMUSIC2010 HAHAHAHAHA

  • @ESMUSIC2010 hahaha

  • @ESMUSIC2010 Im sure he meant in the sound electric shithouse music 2010

  • @yourprovider1

humor is a sign of intelligence, yourwhoreprovider ... some individuals lack it. (a small minority lack both)

  • @MarkyGoldstein I think the E-Channel is for a channel strip whereas the G-Channel is for a stereo bus, could be wrong though

  • @MarkyGoldstein ... or maybe not, it seems they are simply from the 4000 E and 4000 G consoles,

  • @MarkyGoldstein The G channel doesn't have an option to turn the shelves into bells, it has the "divide by 3" thing....Idk..I only use the E Channel...lol

  • @MarkyGoldstein Apart from the color, there are some fundamental differences: the black one can shift its LF and HF eq sections to "bell" mode. The grey's EQ sounds a bit more aggressive than the black; both in boost and cut. The grey seems to have that "grey" dry sound whilst the black seems to have that ebony sweetness.

  • @MarkyGoldstein they have different compress and eq curves mate.

  • were can i get these plugins cause i really need them hit me up please cuz ur download link not working

  • @ballinneverstallin Buy them factory direct for from just about any major pro audio dealer on planet earth

  • hey! this is a great idea to compare them but according to their manual they are calibrated to -12dbFS. Try avoiding the yellow with dry input and you will see what i mean

  • Congratulations on the comparison
