The point of art is, in my opinion, to be allowed to express yourself in every way you want as long as you don't harm others. (By harm others I DON'T mean - He said a bad word which my child could hear blablabla, I mean direct harm like promoting violence against children or stuff like that)

Sure this song has an unusual Topic and nobody can force you to listen to it, but I think they have every right to sing it.

im not talking about legality, legally people can do alot of things in this country, whatever... the music video in this song has sexual themes, which often gives children impressions that sex is a casual thing, which is partially responsible for the high teenage pregnancy rate- case/point. look how rap has changed the dancing at public schools. music is a very very powerfull industry, in my opinion just as or mor powerful than politics, so you would think that artist would be morcareful with...

To blame the high teen pregnancy quota (I assume you live in the US) on the music industry is VERY shortsighted. The reasons for this are things like "Abstinence only" programs and lack of sexual education classes. I highly doubt that someone who is informed can be this influenced by a Song where they use Innuendo, not even direct Slang or Suggestions.

this is where you misunderstood me, music contibutes to a mindset. it has messages that can influence, you cant deny that. formal education is good, but it often goes to waste when the culture decides its cool to not conform, kids have alot more respect for their favorite artists than their health teachers, and when your constantly being showered with sexual messages, it wheres on you. education goes first to the mind, music goes straight to the heart.

And here we disagree... where you hold society - may it be media, music or whatever - responsible, I hold the parents responsible. If your kid is disturbed by a pair of boobs, the mentioning of sex or a dirty words you didn't do such a great job as parents. Of course there are limits but in this exact case my believe is - once a kid is old enough to understand what is meant by this song (which a real young one wouldn't) it should be old enough to deal with it because of its upbringing.

The ideas of romance are so interwoven into our lives because reproduction and "finding a mate" are ideal for the survival of our species. Sex=survival. Agree with your sentiment in that this is such a sex sellout video for a band like Semisonic. This is the same band that want you to take their music seariously enough to pay for their music instead of downloading it for free.
