I'm 17 and I was 6 in 1999, I still played these games when I was that age with my older brother. It's just more "emotional" the older you are, which is why older people get annoyed at 12 year olds playing them. Games up until around 2003 were so gooood. It was more about the game play and story line than the looks and money.

I remember playing Super Mario 64 for the first time years and years ago at a friends house. Of course, it blew me away. The first level I ever saw was Dire, Dire Docks (followed by Bowser in the Dark World, but that's another story :)) This song is as beautiful now as it was back then. Great job!!!

I almost fell asleep listening to this, so I had to listen to it again... and again, and again. Again should be said many more times. This music sends me off to a world of ultimate relaxation and sends the vibe of pure epicness through my mind. This may not be hardcore like elysium735 said, but he's right about your style that you made this piece with.

It takes a more sophisticated mind to properly appreciate music of this calibur. Many more good things should be said, but space is short!

@HarmfulDesign Well, Calm Waters was comprised almost entirely of the original Dire, Dire docks, with a twist. I agree with you, it was awesome, but while this one shares some elements, it's mostly original.

This one's fantastic in its own right. Take it from someone who's heard several musical scores, this could certainly pass for a game song, Mario, Final Fantasy, whatever it may be. lol

Whether its almost the same as the original or completely unique, as long as it conveys the proper emotion and atmosphere, I consider it a success.

@HarmfulDesign Oh, definitely. I hadn't even noticed that this remix was based on Dire, dire 'til one of it's memorable sequences played through. To be perfectly honest, once the piano kicks in, I think this song ceases its 'Mario' atmosphere and shifts to more of a Final Fantasy theme.

@IOYB Like I said, the atmosphere and "feel" of the music are the most important aspects in my humble opinion. That being said, it's not easy to create a remix that measures up to the original because the bar is already set so high. It just goes to show that the composers employed by Nintendo have made some true masterpieces. I would even say that their games simply would not have been as great without them.

I thank you, Nintendo. You have given me some of my most cherished childhood memories.
