  • Hi geoff, a great selection of pick up's you have there, steel dragon ex is a nice cheap option if you want to play shienryu and as you say the updated version is quite playable too, raiden on snes is ok but i would rather have raiden trad on the mega drive, wolf fang is a very nice item to have in the collection, as you say pretty rare,

Cotton boomerang on the saturn looks amazing, very nice and colourful,

Another great video geoff, cheers mate.

  • @SCRATCHMASTERDAL Thanks fir commenting mate, you know you're the second person the recommend MD raiden. It does look lovely and that artwork on the Jap version is gorgous. One for the list I think

  • Great scores mate. I totally agree with Cotton Boomerang, everytime i see this game it seems to look better and better. Great price for Raiden too, seen it for £25 on Ebay sometimes. Good to see those classic Super Fami' shmups in your collection as well. Nice one dude! :D

  • @MENDEZ1628 Hello mate, Boomerang Cotton really is one of those showcases of what the Saturn can do 2D wise I'm sure you'll love it when you get it. I've always got an eye open for those snes shmups mate, it's such an underrated console for shmups.

  • @gmintyfresh In all honesty mate although i love me JP MD shmups, my all time favourite 16-bit system will always be the Super Famicom. For me it had a far more varied/better soft/w library than the MD's overall, but this is purely my opinion. I mean, how good of an conversion would Carrier Air Wing, Dragon Breed, etc, of been heh! :D

  • I absolutely love Shienryu.

Great vid as always! Keep up the great work mate :)

  • @MrVengeance83 Thanks mate, surprised me how good this port is great game.

  • Raiden Looks pretty POOR on the SNES from the video

  • @aliwel Its not the greatest looking port, but the game plays fine mate. There are certainly much better shooters on the system!

  • Never got a chance to play raiden on anything other than playstation and the current xbox 360 but i heard it's pretty decent, good vid man.

  • @regionfree1 Thanks mate, the ps1 port is the definitive version, it's lovely. I think Raiden 4 is my favourite game in the series and still one of my favourite 360 shmups.

  • By the way something to go along with the wonderfull Wolf fang.. ebay search that mate.

SHOOTING GAME HISTORICA SERIES 3: WOLF FANG

  • @indydaisy1 Awesome mate I love the shooting game historica series

  • Nice buys there muka :) i just snagged a 360 raiden fighters aces with dvd will have plenty to play when i do manage to get a jpn unit hahaha.i had nigh on all them smups back on the saturn i spent a lot of cash. when i watch your vids it always makes you want to play them again :) just a thought mate do you ever wonder about maybe buying an arcade cabinet?

  • @indydaisy1 Thanks mate, cracking score on Raiden Fighters aces trust me mate when you get that Jap 360 you're going to love it, I'd go for the Raiden 4 too - its tough but fun. Funny you should mention arcade cabs I've got a future project planned, more on that later.... ;)

  • @gmintyfresh Love to hear the arcade cab plans ;)

  • I think most of the cotton series of games are quality. Seen the Dreamcast version about which is a depature from the others. Not a bad version of Raiden there.

  • @ash81b4u Oh aye mate Cotton is one of those games that's held in such high regard, across the formats those games really command a premium!! Rainbow Cotton is just bizarre but also cool!!

  • Glad you enjoyed the Cotton :) cheers DCharlie *thumbs up*

  • @dcoyles Big time dc, thanks for sorting it out! :)

  • Some really nice shmups you picked up there matey - I think that Cotton Boomerang has to be close to top of my list for Saturn Shmups if I can find it at a sensible price.. :)

  • @XFile2708 Glad to hear it's on the list mate, it's a great shooter but I'd question the crazy prices this bugger sells for, it certainly is one of the nicest 32 bit shooters I've seen

  • Always a pleasure to see your shmup pickups. 4 games I don't own too. My June pickups will be up soon. Just waiting on one final shmup from Japan to finish the month off

  • @AmidstStorm Thanks mate, steel dragon ex was the real surprise package for me, not heard great things about it but the game is great! Looking forward to seeing your pickups mate as always, picked up a sega mark iii title recently that I think you may be interested in

  • Good stuff mate, the Cotton series is a new one to me - in fact so new that I only really discovered it the other week.......still, it's been interesting enough to have had me looking on ebay for a cheap (ish) copy :)

  • @bluetonic78 Cotton is one of those series which suffered from not having a release outside of Japan. When you see how many games there are in the series its surprising how unknown the game is. There is a small but loyal following for the game out there, which version are you looking to get?

  • wolf fang? XING? Didnt they make "in the hunt"? Cotton for the saturn is a completely different game than the Duo R/PC Engine release or is it a remake/enhanced release of that one? Becus i saw Cotton 2 for the saturn and its a completely different game in terms of mechanics. To me DeathSmiles always seemed like a spiritual sequel to the Duo R release of cotton. This Cotton gameplay you showed looks super awesome!!!

  • Raiden Densetsu for SNES is terrible because of the shoddy port by Micronics. If you want a really good version for a 16-bit system get the far better Genesis/Mega Drive version.

  • @usagi704 Yep I agree, it's not the best looking port out there but it plays fine. I'm ashamed to say I've never played the MD version but it looks great, one to add to the list I think!
