  • thamks man...

  • nice bro, now all you need to do is play it in church

  • very nice!!!

  • One thing also that you can do is play the first time through on the snare and the second on the toms, or visa versa. Adds a little verity. :)

  • I love your patient and careful demeanor. Thanks for helping me improve my drumming.

  • watch?v=06tyQSho1r0

    Watch this video.

  • You are a great teacher. I have learned alot just from watching one video.

  • you have officially turned into my new drum teacher

  • thanks man, that's awesome! i'm gonna have to start practicing this!

  • Rocks.Cool.

  • i don't really get the 'te-tah'thingy :S

  • @jaleesamg instead of 1 and ah 2, or 1 e n 2 , some say 1 te tah 2.

  • @adzug thanks :)

  • That's a low pitched tom-tom! :)

  • Really smooth very nice chops nicking that one! ;-)

  • is that a moon gel?

  • I appreciate the way you break your video down; It makes it a lot easier to understand. However, I am a little confused. On the first roll, using just the snare and bass, you would count it like this?

    (snare) 1-te-tah, 2

    (bass) -te-tah

    (snare) 3-te

    (bass) -tah

am I counting this right? if so, how many times through do I count it. If I count it right then its only 3/4 of a measure. Thanx for your time

  • @mikeroxannandrew Hey. You need to think of it in 16th note triplets instead of 'normal' 8th note triplets. so instead of 1-te-tah 2-te-tah etc it would be 1-te-tah &-te-tah 2-te-tah &-te-tah (all the way up to four). 16th note triplets have 24 notes in a bar. That means if the phrase is 9 notes long you can fit 2 full repetitions followed by 6 notes to finish (in this case its RLRLFF). it sounds alot more complicated than it actually is!

  • @mikeroxannandrew hey the rudiment is this S=snare B= bassdrum, S S S S B B S S B, xD

  • cool

  • Great. :) Nice job.

  • Cool idea man thanks for the video

  • Who came up with the term "gospel fill," or "gospel chops?" Are they only used in church services? Nice drumming dude, but what a crappy name for a fill... AT ITS CORE ITS ALL RUDIMENTS, NOT GOSPELS.

  • Gracias,,,excelente!!!! saludos desde Colombia

  • Thanx man..Excellent ideas...

  • thanks dude, that's awesome!

  • thanks very much, i'm going to my kit now.

    that was a great video.

  • Very help full!! dude you are insane on those drums THANX!!

  • thx inspiring!

  • awesome...and i need that....thank you for posting

  • could this be counted as a 9 stroke roll for just one bar??

  • a 9 stroke roll would be RR LL RR LL R

i.e. 2 sets of doubles followed by a single. This lick is a combination of singles and feet.

  • almost like the weckl 9 which is :

    RLR FF RL FF

  • gracias!!!!!! muy bien explicado.....

  • Awesome!

  • wow!!! thanx!!!

  • thanks once again..

  • how do you do those fast foot double strokes???

  • nice!

  • Wery Nice .)

  • nice

  • Sweet video man! One of the best on youtube, you explained it really well and are bloody good at it! ... (plus you are english)

  • I think it's awesome that you post your licks for free on youtube man. for a lot of drummers their special little fills are coveted secrets that they are unwilling to share. And obviously many people appreciate different perspectives on fills they can add to their arsenal, so thanks!

  • Thanks for the teachin, u really got the gospel stuff goin on!

  • loved this - very simple but effective. and thanks for breaking it down so well. I cant stand guys that play a fill at normal speed a few times and expect the masses to understand immediately.

  • mad skillz homy

  • snare sounds Good!!

  • thanks for this! great fill !

  • I like that you break down really funky stuff in a sort of sophisticated, raised eyebrow fashion.

On my kit I'm only using 1 overhead because my other one is under my snare drum. I need some mic stands, but for now its good. Thanks again for your vid

  • i loved the triplet

  • Thanks. THis was most helpful.

  • aswum!

  • are u supposed to accent the first note in the first group of four? or is that just what u do for practice?

  • I guess I add in accents but not specifically that one. Just messing around with what sounds good

  • Great video

You sound great great as allways ! so tight and funky

  • Oh fuk yeah!!!!!

  • is there a certain technique that you use to be able to play those quick doubles on the kick?

  • Not any particular technique actually. Just practicing whatever feels natural

  • you can use heel toe. thats what helped allot for me. but it varies from person to person

  • i posted a similar lick on the video response. check it out.

  • Nice man! Keep it up

  • I guess i could post a longer one next time. and maybe even make it show video. haha. i couldnt prop up my phone so i just layed it down.

  • thank you for posting this!

  • Cool fill, nice drums.

  • 16th Triplet concept (1 e a 1 e a): Any 4 Hands + 2 Feet = 6 notes Or 3 Hands + 2 Feet + 1 Hands = 6 notes Sticking (2/4): RLRLKK RLRLKK LRLRKK LRLRKK RRLLKK RRLLKK LLRRKK LLRRKK Also: RLRKKL RLRKKL LRLKKR LRLKKR RRLKKL RRLKKL LLRKKR LLRKKR
  • linear fills are fun.

  • hey man i dont think thats right

  • Youre right! just watched the STIXX live lesson and it was 10 notes long i think. Happy accident anyway!

  • i like it 9 notes long.

  • im pretty sure that in the original video it is 10 note lick w/ an extra bass drum not at the end...

  • Yeah now we're getting somewhere.
