@slothywun Wrong. It's all about how much momentum you have built up when you land. If you land too hard, it counts as a step. As you saw in this video, he decelerated a lot, causing him to have very soft landings to where it didn't count his landing as a step,

@hix0n2000 But even just hitting the jump button while standing still will give me a step. He fell from some pretty high portals and didn't get a step. But I did notice him landing on the edge of the portal below him when he did. And I've read the term "edge glitching" before.

@slothywun No, if you don't land too hard it won't give you a step. if you're inbetween ground portals and then you shoot the portal you just came out of elsewhere, when you land it won't count as a step. There's no way I'm slick enough to get 10 on here, but I've gotten some extremely low counts. It's all about timing and placement. Whenever I hit the 'edge' it counts more for me, so no "edge glitching" doesn't work.

well i did this run only once successfully. and i discovered 1 step after this. i've tried it in 8 steps (one stepping, and removing the final step) but i just can't duplicate the last fling into the elevator.

I tried to mix least steps gaming with the OOB we see in expert's speedruns. It resulted in a 6 steps record.

i can do the speed runs and the portal challenges but the steps really throw me off for some reason. is there something where you have to go through a certain amount of portals for your landing not count as a step? it might just be me being clutsy with the anolog. outrageous vid, great job!

Just see that you don't have ANY sideward or forward/backward momentum. Else she'll make a step! But you're right, i've beaten almost all least time/least portals challenges, but the steps are way more difficult ;)
