  • Closest thing I've heard to Dylan since Dylan

  • Such an oddly concocted song - but monumentally charming. And yes, I wanna dance.

  • i say the bad thing of Big Star's songs is that they are so short, then I think that if they were longer they wouldnt be so good.

so i'll just play it all over again, till my drukness is gone or till the moon goes down.

  • Third album is by far the best Big Star record in my opinion. Hauntingly beautiful. Slower and perhaps less poppy but so much deeper than 1 and 2.

  • A lot of people don't get the third album. Maybe they haven't gotten there yet. The way I see it, the Big Star albums chronicle being young, and the third focuses on the sense of disillusionment at the tail end of "coming of age". Some call it an existential crisis, others call it ennui. I just call it, BIG STARS THIRD. Now, if only Chilton had come up with an album that focuses on paying taxes and raising kids....

  • A frickin brilliancy.

  • Were they drunk recording this ? It's a shambles

  • we could go right insane

  • One thing that sickens my tits about Big Star is that everyone associated frailty with genius. This is such a weak album. Give me #1 Record or Radio City any day. The songs are much better. They're not miserable and wimpy like the third album...

  • @davebest2001 I disagree, but since you said "sickens my tits" I feel strangely compelled to agree.

  • @davebest2001

It appears you have spent the last two weeks listening to every song from the Third album on youtube, and leaving a comment about how much you hate it and how it "sounds drunk." We get it... you don't like Big Star's Third record. Surely you must have better things to do.

  • @davebest2001 "Third" definitely has an acquired taste, it's really only a Big Star album by name. Alex wrote all the songs except "For You", with no other creative input from Jody or other musicians. It's a classic non the less.

  • Can't wait to hear this Saturday Night!

  • CHRIS BELL as big as god

  • @sradelasierramorena youre wrong. and that nigga ain even on this one, flava.

  • @leecorey1 So what. He's still as Big as God : =

  • keep an eye on the sky! RIPSir Alex

  • heyu,

quit jackin the thread - go jack yerself.

Shine on Alex, we never knew ya.

    namaste

  • @heyyouube11111 ERm....why are you discussing religion here??

  • first BIG STAR song i ever heard..1984.. what an opening...

  • Keep singing Alex.

  • RIP Alex.

  • D'you wanna dance....? D'ya?? Stroke it Noel. :-) This song just makes me happy every single time.

  • Probably my fav Big Star tune.. achingly beautiful...

  • Honestly never heard of these guys till i learned that Elliot smith was doing a cover of 13.

  • kind of an odd song title wouldn't you say? nice tune though.

  • A musician friend of Alex's father played on this track-- his name was Noel.

  • Superb song, my favorite Big Star tune

  • Thank you for posting this! I love Big Star. They're one of my favorite bands ever. Check out my cover of "The Ballad of el Goodo" sometime if you get a chance. Cheers.
