I say call it the Ultra. I think personally Nintendo might actually change the name. It makes sense marketing wise. I also hope with the final design the console looks different than it is now, because I want it to be different from Wii. Like how GC & N64 is different from each other.

I guess Nintendo learned from the 3DS that using the same name to exploit the previous console's success doesn't work anymore in this day and age. They should just use the abandoned handle for the N64 and call it "Ultra Nintendo", lol.

the code name for n64 was project reality until e3 95 when nintendo revealed the name to ultra64. then they changed the name to nintendo 64.

Im fine with the name Wii U. I think the whole 'core gaemrzzz wont buy it because it has Wii in the name' argument is BS because most wouldnt buy it regardless of what its called. They'd pull the good ol' "Nintendo is kiddy", etc. yadayadayada or that the casuals would be confused. All they need to do is get across the message that Wii U is the console, that its brand new, and show off some Wii U games.

Ive grown to like the name Wii U, but if they change it I wont complain.

@M3TR01DFANBOY I dont know about advertised/ marketed, but those were going to be their name. Project Cafe and Dolphin were codenames. I think Revolution was a codename as well and they thought about naming it that but decided something more 'attractive' to the masses.

Anyways I think its quite possible they will rename it, and maybe put a stocker on the box that says "works with all Wii accessories and Wii games". I think that will help it a lot.

I think keeping the Wii brand should stay but maybe meet half way by Keeping Wii U but tacking on ltra ( Wii Ultra) on the end

@sythorne wii ultra sounds pretty descent, honestly i could care less about what its named but i can see the ultra name working
