  • Its a pretty good cover!

  • Awesome rendition. Vedders voice was made for this song

  • stop trying to figure out why some small minded music haters always check dislike.... i say to them watch something else.....and maybe, just one day they'll get it, think of all the amazing music they miss!!! music is life!!

  • eddie is such an amazing performer and singer!!! every type of music he nails, and his love of music of all sorts shows through!! he is a rare and remarkable talent!! keep singing eddie.....we love it all!!!

  • Occupy!

  • Youtube should add a feature in which, when you dislike a video you would have to give a reason why you did so.

  • @ezioowns well its pretty obvious. they just dont like the song...

  • Happy Birthday Eddie

  • Was 4th row for this. Great times. Anyone have whole rally in dvd? Especially Tim Robbins set

  • Comment removed

  • life sent me here...

  • Great cover! Hey, was that a Nader sign? I guess that would mean this is early 2000s then. And I guess he said "Vote Ralph" at the end then? Just curious. Anyway, great song, still applicable to today's social atmosphere I think.

  • @irishbug14 Sounded to me like 'vote proud'.

  • @mookins45 RALPH NADER!

  • @irishbug14 he says "vote proud"

and yes, this is from the Nader Madison Square Garden rally in 2000!

  • sigh... i love this song. but it makes me think about kids THESE DAYS.. humanity is fucked lol

  • I'm not sure why, but this version, his voice singing these words, makes me cry.

  • To anybody who dislikes this you have no taste

  • "...and don´t criticise what you dont understand"

  • wow.. got goosebumps

  • A beautiful song that applies today as much as forty-something years ago. I wonder if we'll see a Dylan / John Prine / etc revival, considering the state of things.

Peace and love to all the Youtube haters out there. I hope that one day, all can experience the wonderful sensation that comes with an open heart and an open mind. We are all on this ride this together, and a beautiful world living in harmony is only as impossible as we allow it to be.

  • @cculb1 Nicley put so agree with this in the shadows of the occupied movement I have been hoping the change would come in my life time and it's happening so happy for my humans and the youth coming up have something to look up at us in pride and not shame!!!

  • love it n i dont understand why do ppl have problems if someone does a cover! i would love to do wat my love does coz its love n i wanna imitate it n dats the one kind of flattery.. LOVE u Ed, u are a singing hug to me wenever i feel low.. thanks to the uploader for the share :)

  • @jazl10 the biggest form of praise is emulation...

  • @ACHEESEDANISH00 totally agree with u..

  • Doc sent me here :)

  • @ilikecutepeople Doc Brown?

  • I like it

  • Bless you Eddie! Beware of giving gov. too much power they wont give it back. Fittin tune for the times.

  • Meh. I still like Simon & Garfunkel's version the best.

  • I'm baffled to see that this received 20 dislikes. It's a beautiful rendition of one of the greatest songs ever committed to record. Well done Eddie, well done.

  • @IfIWereThePope

Yeah, that 1.18% of people are butts.

  • @IfIWereThePope some ppl will crap on beauty just because they can, shows low intelligence

  • Times are always changin's why this song's a perennial classic.

  • After watching INTO THE WILD ...

  • GOD

    BOB DYLAN

  • Started listening to Dylan's songs long before songs of PJ. [although I was born in 1980] Dylan's songs were great, but his voice isn't all that...Eddie Vedder has a fabulous voice, so my opinion is he revives Dylan's songs..it's a tribute to Dylan and a big honour voor Eddie I guess...PJ still rocks my world :) Keep on singing Eddie! :D

  • Crazy how this is just as relevant now as it was in the 60's.

  • Beautiful. Thank you Eddie.

  • WOW-CHRIS HOLLY plays (Times They are a-changin) to Michele Bachmann at Town Hall Meeting-A MUST SEE

  • Nice work. Keep Dylan music alive.

  • Vedder understands hisory

  • he looks like johnny depp there :)

goosebumps all over my body when he started to sing this timeless masterpiece.

dylan is one of the last living legends

    good job here.

    god bless you all

  • nice, really like this cover

  • What did he said at the end - "Thanks, born proud"?

  • @Tarrebel : Vote proud

  • God damn Eddie's so freaking smooth

  • Such an amazing cover!! it does dylan's songwriting the justice it deserves!! plus, eddie vedder is cooler than the fonz!! absolute legend!!

  • Eddie the Vedderman, U can't find a better band

  • I totaly agree with (dogsfart1)

  • I LOVE YOU EDDIE VEDDER

  • If God had voice it would sound like Eddie's

  • Love this !

  • Eddie Vedder makes me cry sometimes.

  • awesome video...!!

  • Can you buy this anywhere?

  • This song was the national anthem and the marching song for my generation...we did what we could but, truth be told, we didn't quite manage to take it all the way home. Thank God for Eddie Vedder and for all of you out there who still understand that there is still a dream and that the times, they are still a changin! Carry it on...peace...love. Make it real!

  • I LOVE EDDIE VEDDER. I love his soul!!

  • Eddie knows how to cover Dylan because he does it out of love and respect for Dylans music, masters of war at msg 30th anniversary concert is the best there is. thx for the upload

  • The only constant thing in this world is change. Yet this song is TIMELESS... Dylan was indeed the spokesman of his generation, and Eddie, ours. Hats off to you both for being a monument in the history of rock...

  • monster song monster intrepretation! waow

  • Vedder doing justice to the master(Dylan)

  • Eddie Vedder = God !!!!

  • great voice plenty of talent

  • 3:18 Ralph Nader had eddie vedder play for his campaign?? why is he not president yet???

  • 19 Rebecca Black fans watched this.

  • One of the first songs I learned on guitar in high school. Perfect voice for this song! Heard him perfom it, or at least a clip of it in a documentary about Ralph Nader called "An Unreasonable Man." Amazing!

  • One of the first songs I learned on guitar in high school. Perfect voice for this song.

  • omg johny depp can do just about everything.

  • Go for it Eddie....the guy is such a genius,,,he doesn't even know he is making history by playing this song.

  • TRUE art does not come in and out of style.

  • I think we have the red hot chili peppers to thank for pearl jam

  • @zer01ife why?

  • @recklesshighwaypig

pearl jam used to be a red hot chili pepper cover band, then they gave them a spot on one of their gigs to play original stuff and everybody loved them

  • Very good

  • Beautiful cover.

  • Respect.

  • morrison was the vedder of the 70's :)

  • @grongo2 *vedder is the morrison of the 90's

  • @grongo2 You do know that Morrison died in 1971? The sixties was his really big period.

  • You can see that Vedder has got trouble singing this song because he's emotional. He was emotional during " I am a patriot" that night also. It was a special day for him i guess.

  • Awesome! Nice arrangement at the end!

  • This song was written in the past but seems to stay in the present along with the Masters of War. Truly amazing song writer is Bob.

  • lookin a little bit like Johnny Depp here... Vedder does a great cover, nobody can top Dylan but this version means more to me as I grew up a '90s kid

  • Actually I'm a Bob Dylan fan and don't know much about Eddie Vedder, except that his band was called Pearl Jam. But I have to say that this is the best cover of this song.

  • @Ramaz1969 Indeed, there is a lot of crap on youtube. Vedder is a rather good singer songwriter, you should check out his album of into the wild. Beautiful songs and every one gives you chickenpox.

  • If keith Richards can play Captain Jack Sparrow's Father, Eddie Vedder should play his brother.

  • if you dislike this ...you fail at life...thats just how it goes..

  • it is a shame the times are changin cause all of vedders work rocks and he never got enough praise for it

  • original version is better...

  • @bigfproblem

i dont think that's the point.

  • No more comparisons, people. His name is Eddie Vedder and he is an amazing artist. Thats it. So listen, enjoy and have a good day!

  • all i got to say is 3 things

    1.) very good music...king

2.) if you got this song from watchmen you arent a true fan

3.) he looks like johnny depp

thats all good music live forever <3

  • NADER

  • 18 people didn't watch the watchmen

  • @ronackostolomac I didn't either but I like this song ...

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful!!!

  • I do not like pearl jam and usually do not like Eddie Vedder's voice.. But this.. This is incredible.

  • great song

  • anyone else thinking he looks like johnny depp in this one?

  • @Jackhelm1993 never thought abut it but lol he kinda does

  • Is there a version of Eddie Vedder doing this song available anywhere like iTunes? Another incredible cover from Mr. Vedder.

  • music has fallen from grace, it will never be the same again, long live eddie and the 90's.

  • Do I believe Eddie Vedder? Yes, I do... This song is about love. The one and only driving force in the universe..... peace!

  • he looks like johnny depp in The Tourist

  • I know how to solve your shit. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. IF YOU DONT LIKE I DONT CARE. I DO. CANT WE ALL AGREE ON THAT?

  • okay, bob dylan is a legend, but he is a better song righter than song singer.....truth, ...sorry

  • I agree , Eddie Vedder is ahead of the times or we're behind. Either way he deserves a bit more credit for his talent.

  • This song is awsome and i think eddie does a better job the bob dylan

  • It seems as though Johnny Depp based his look in 'The Tourist' on Vedder here.

  • How can anybody dislike this song or video? Id like to c someone play and sing live as good as Eddie does.

  • EmocIonante, larga vida a DYLAN

  • I think I am on an Eddie Vedder kick the past few days- but I think this man's voice is absolutely worth it! Have a great day, everyone!

  • I love this version! This video helps me a lot because I want to play this on guitar. God bless you for posting this.

  • i usually hate when people do dylan songs because they usually mutilate the song but man eddie vedder totally does dylan justice

he sings it with the same passion that bob does

    AMAZING

  • @sharon012490 I agree with you. Dylan, both his poetry and voice were unique and to be honest, back then we simply accepted Dylan without critquing his voice. Vedder does this great justice...

  • @sharon012490 I agree - Eddie is a compelling storyteller, heartfelt singer, and really does a great job with Dylan material - checkout "Masters Of War"... it'll make you cry.

  • Wish I didn't picture Russell Crowe every time I looked at Eddie! Eddie rocks and Russle Sux!

  • I think Eddie should do a whole bob dylan cover album

  • I think Eddie Vedder performs songs better than the originals alot of the time!!

  • AWESOME!!

  • #vedderday feliz cumple brother Ed

  • This song is universal. We are still at war in afghanistan for no reason, we still have incompetent leaders who only think about their own gain. We still live in systems of Capitalism..

  • youre right i saw he sing exactly the same way in other videos.its weird for me tough

  • cant belive there' are people thinking that the end of the song was a improvise.he just forget the time to stop so he was trying to find himself whilie singing nonsense.lt happens to anyone

  • it is a good cover but ithink he got tottaly lost in the end 3:05...3:15 lollllll

  • @beroth77 Nah, he just changed it.. You could hear on the way he sung it that it was deliberate.

  • Eddie Vedder is too pure for this earth

  • What a pseudo-intellectual prick. Eddie Vedder sucks cock. Probably the worst vocalist of the 90s.

  • isnt he that douchebag who leads a band? good cover of a song, but if he's who I think he is then I remember something he said and think he's a douchebag.

  • @matrix4022 So are you one of those types that judges people with dismissive labels like "douchebag" based on one thing they say that you to disagree with? Awfully sad way of living, bro. Judge based on action and the content of character rather than verbal interpretation...or even misinterpretation, for that matter. For my dollar, Eddie Vedder, based on his actions both past and present, strikes me as an honorable soul who deserves my respect, and I'm not even the biggest fan of his music.

  • @Themazz007 Disliking a person based on an opinion they hold is more than valid, I also dislike Bin Laden and the KKK for their views.

  • @matrix4022 True. But to say "He said something and therefore I think he is a douchebag" is not the same as disliking hate-mongers like the KKK or mass-murderers like Bin Laden. Not the best comparison. I know many folks who hold vastly different viewpoints and opinions than I--either political, social, or spiritual--and I consider them to be friends. What was is it that Vedder said that turned you off, out of curiosity (and I'm really interested, that's not a confrontational question)?

  • @matrix4022 No, you dislike Bin Laden and KKK for their actions.. Not their views...

  • @snakeweirdo you're telling me what I believe? you really are brain dead.

  • 14 dislikes?!

  • he is still right

    a used-to-be a hippie from amsterdam hollans

  • I didn't know Johnny Depp could sing :)

  • @hallofsmith Ye, Captain Jack Sparrow singing my favourite song :]

  • 13 people mised the like click

  • @OverlyBurnt Lady GaGa fans

  • that's cool but Dylan sings his songs best. It's just his voice and phrasing...

  • @0live0wire0 Vedder;s masters of war from the aniversary concert at msg was masterful

  • fantastico!!!!!!

  • that was a Ralph Nader rally me thinks

  • and people say perfection is a myth...

  • @shreak696-WHOW WHOW WHOW MAN HE IS NOT THE JIM MORRISON OF THE 90's, He is very gifted indeed but Jim Morrison come on.......Jim did more in a few short years than Eddie did in all his career!

  • @InmateSpeedDemo Vedder wasnt the Morrison of the 90's, he was the Vedder of the 90's.

  • @supernicewitit Morrison was the Vedder of the 60ies. Nah, it's like you told it.

  • @supernicewitit i agree with you my friend, but when you get called other morrison...its really something good and imprortant...he likes door, really, and morrison was probably his rolemodel...:)

  • @razorwnb Oh yeah absolutely, Jim represented the quintessential "rock star".

  • @supernicewitit i agree with this in part and dissagree. The statement implies he is as big as Morrison was, which in that aspect, is true in my opinion. So if you take it in that context, he was the Morrison of the 90's. However i agree with you in part also, he is a voice of his own and in my opinion a rock and roll hall of famer easily. He was responsible for changing music in many aspects. So yeah i see both sides on this statement.

  • @hazer333 Yeah, I just feel like there are too many great front men who are constantly being compared. Vedder is brilliant in every essence of the term. When your as great as Eddie of Jim, you are unique and yourself, not comparable too anyone else.

  • @supernicewitit good point >:')=

  • @supernicewitit you mean the vedder of the 60s?...

  • @ASpanishguy Nope, hes his own legend. Hes not like anyone and hes not not like anyone. He is Eddie Vedder, nothing more nothing less.

  • @InmateSpeedDemon if by more you mean drugs, then sure

  • Ed is the man!

  • Wow!!! I love Dylan's music, one of the most talented song writer ever, and Eddie Vedder voice fits perfectly for this song. Beautiful!!!

  • Oh man, this is AWESOME. I may even like it better than the original...

  • @Tigerpuffer and keep in mind, I do like Bob Dylan, and the original is one of my favorite songs, but I love Eddie and PJ... and this performance is just amazing. I am breathless

  • @Tigerpuffer I agree this is an amazing cover mate, but I think the orignal just beats it, Just!

  • @ConTurk: Ah man, it's close. I don't have it in me to badmouth the original, it's such a good song, but I love this version and Eddie Vedder is da man.

  • Eddie Vedder's politics stink on ice but, man can he sing

  • i think in 30 years the world will realise what a legend eddie vedder is, and what he has done for music over the last decade!!! maybe then he will get the praise he deserves. he def gets it from me!! sadly the times ARE changing and i hope that the artists of today can take some insiration from music like pearl jam!!!! Its artists like eddie vedder and adam duritz from counting crows that keeps music

    alive. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!

  • @deanthehoff Shut up old timer... Isn't it time for your medication?

  • @DeviousBetrayer Old timer? im 29 fool!! shouldnt you be on the boyzone or backstreet boys web site. CRANK

  • @deanthehoff

Pearl Jam and Counting Crows are keeping music alive? You poor, musically impoverished man!

  • @MrRapelol i am keen to delve into you music taste?????

  • @deanthehoff i hope you realize that this is a cover from dylan, vedder is just another uninnovative biter here

  • @wikid24 of course its a cover. And its better than the origianl.

  • @wikid24 I hope you realize that you can't name an artist who doesn't cover someone else's work in concert. I also hope you realize that uninnovative isn't even a word. It was nice of you to jump in, but I think PJ fans have a better taste in music than the average fan, and definitely realize that this is a Bob Dylan cover. This isn't Lady Gaga. What you also do not realize is that Eddie actually got Dylan's permission to cover it. Uninnovative biter my ass. Learn English, then learn the facts.
