@janericciardi Hmm...you might not like my advice for a one-round stripe. :) I would personally make it at least two rounds, because one round is going to have a prominent jog that you can't correct.
@paparazzimama This technique works when you are working in the round using purl stitch, or in garter stitch. It is just more obvious and easy to see the results in stockinette.
Thank-you so much for this video!! I've been looking at a few other techniques, such as slipping the first stitch, but found them inadequate. Your technique is wonderful and it really works. It produces the least visible colour changes. Thanks again. Love your videos!
nice. even though i keep the jog on the bottom of the foot when knitting striped socks, it would be nice to have no jog at all, especially on the back of the leg. i'll give this a whirl on my next pair...THANX!
Thank you for the tip! I'm knitting a hat that changes from stockinette stitch to garter stitch for the brim. Can I use this technique for stitch switches as well or does it only work when you're changing colors?
@ienketube You know, I've never used this trick for switching from stockinette to garter while knitting in the round, but I do always use it when I switch from stockinette to moss stitch (the difference being that the first stitch of moss stitch is a K). Give it a try and see how it looks. You'll be able to tell if it's helping right away.
@Kazpersmami No - this technique only improves the look of your work, and doesn't cause any pulling. Also, since you are knitting in-the-round when you do this technique, there is no seam.
@jboyce98 No - it doesn't add a stitch, because you are already knitting two together. When you pull the old color up from the row below, you knit that together with the first stitch of the new color. No extra stitch added!
@maryb8185 You only do this correction once (for every time you change color). Work the first round normally, then do this trick on the first stitch of the second round.
It should work with any stitch you're working. If you're doing reverse stockinette, I would try picking up the stitch from the "wrong" side of the work. If you're doing garter stitch, I would experiment to see what looks best.
So helpful :) I really appreciated this video.

Hi, By doing this wouldn't the seam start to pull? Thanks for the video.

Doesn't this technique ad a stitch to the row? Should you follow with a decrease?
Love, love ,love your videos.

Great hint - do you have to do this every row, or just the row when you change color?

Does this work when you're doing a purl stitch rather than a knit stitch? Or is it specifically only for the knit stitch?
