I bought your DVD on alternate picking. I must say that it is the best found. It really uncovers the secrets and the technique under alternate picking. I am sure of that because me myself discovered some of the technique, but your dvd has opened my eyes more, finding what i as doing wrong. I am working on it. Thanks!! No one out there explains the real issues on alternate picking.
if you are going from one string to another adjacent string, and your pick stroke just prior to the change is directed at the next string, do you continue that picking motion to hit it (economy)? Or would you hit the next string with an opposite-direction pick stroke?
@MapleLeafAce Most often I use alternate picking which is opposite pick strokes all the times. But I sometimes use economy picking also. It depends on what I'm playing. Some lines are ridiculously hard to play with alternate picking but quite easy with economy and some things are simply not possible to play with economy picking. So I really enjoy being able to do both. Thanks for commenting.
@RamiroFeichu Thanks :o) You need a blue Squier Deluxe, a Dimarzio Chopper in the bridge position and two Dimarzio red velvets in the middle and neck position. Then you need to plug in to a Marshall 15 watt practice amp and use the in built distortion and a some delay. Then turn the Bass knob all the way down and the mids and treble a little over twelve o'clock. That'll do the trick :o) Thanks for commenting
@lordtkn Yes! I like the tone also. Took me a while to get to it. It's a MArshall MG 15 watt (silver) amp. A Squire Deluxe with a Dimarzio chopper in the bridge and to Red Velvets in the middle and neck position :o)
Thanks! I'm 39 and I picked up the guitar when I was 10. I played mostly classical stuff and some simple chords until I saw the first instructional video that Paul Gilbert did. I went berzerk for about two years after that. 90 % of my skills where build during those two years. It doesn't have to take that long, if you have the right strategy : ) thanks for asking!
Very impressed...I would love to see some music and/or improvising from you.
And here's my quick 2 cents on "talent". I believe it to be a blend of skill and ear. i.e. I've seen fast technical shredders get lulled in by the slow note emotional players so many times but for some reason it never ceases to amaze me. Especially when most of them I know can shred your face off but chose moderation, usually.
I agree with you. Here's a sick display of skills that never seizes to amaze me: Larry Carlton - Emotions wound us so (live Last Nite album) A slow shredder in action...
Checked it out...I think I blackedout cause I was so lost in the beauty of it.... seriously it was amazing...so fluent and emotional. This is why he is and always will be a legend.
holy s***! amazing cleaness at that speed, I've hhardly ever seen anyone shredding that clean, and I've seen a number of top notch players. Your username ain't no exaggeration, thanks for invitation.
Thanks man. But it's really a matter of repeating it enough times. I always felt like I had no talent what so ever! Anything you have to do that many times to get it right, can't be something you're talented at :-)
Pshh, you're not giving yourself enough credit, there's not many people out there that are willing to practice enough to get that stuff right, and being talented at something doesn't exactly mean you have to be a natural, but practicing enough to the point at which you are right now.
If that's the way you look at it, I'd have to agree with you. In my opinion "talent" is nothing but the willingness to do what it takes - and to be flexible in your approach and not get stuck with one way of doing things. But that's something you can work on. You can't work on your genes. Inborn "talent" is fixed and so it often becomes an excuse not to go for it - "I just don't have the talent" : )

In vast mode, for the right hand , there must be a skip, or a sweep.
this is not a up stroak and a downsrtoke in repetition!
WwwLickonizerDe 2 years ago
It really is strict alternate picking. It's the lick that has this ligthning like quality to it.
