Great video! So great to watch the daily progression!! I have 20 plus lovebirds in a very large cage.. there are several pairs..I want to take the pairs out, but once I try to catch them with a net, they fly and I don't know which ones are witch, as they all are very similar in color! Any suggestions would be soooooo appreciated!!!! you can email me at hotgmamaof8@yahoo.com with ideas or suggestions!
if you guys take the babies out, do the parents still care for them or do you have a special incubator? i don't have any lovebirds, but i'm just sort of curious
Oh that is just wonderful! I still miss the baby robin I took in Memorial Day weekend back in 2007 who apparently fell out of his nest and wandered around till he go to my stairwell. I saw him on the lower stairs, was on my way to Church so I just walked on, and when I got back he'd worked his way almost up to my door. My heart went out to him instantly! He tried to get away when I captured him into a foot tub, but I gained his trust very quickly. I loved those 2 days together.
I've been doing research online and I keep referring to your age progression as a reference. My lovebirds had an egg hatched and the baby has been growing. But, the strangest thing. He's not growing those soft, downy feathers like your birds are his wing and head feathers are coming in nicely, but he has no downy feathers. I know the mother will pluck the babies feathers occassionally because he has a few isolated red marks every so often.
He has the thicker ones growing in along his back, but he looks relatively bald on his back and underside. He's alert when I take him out, very energetic and all that, so I know the parents are still feeding him and whatnot (I hope!) The only thing i can think of is that the mother is very aggressive against people, and maybe she is rough with the baby (About 20 days old?) because I take him out everyday. Could temperature be the cause?
im trapped, i bought a cage for two birds to live perfectly in but they mated and now they are about to lay eggs and soon there will be no space, and im searching to buy a bigger cage but cant find one, and by the way, what should i put in their cage for them to build a nest, paper or coconut skin or something and how do the babies eat, will the parents chew nuts and give it to them, im so new to breeding, im not ready but i have no choice, its not like i can kill the babies. i need some help.
hihi... i have a Q: why doesnt my lovebird incubate/sit on the egg when its only the first few days until it reached the 4th or 5th eggs? among all the eggs only 1 survive?
Yesterday she laid an egg but she "ignore" it. wud you suggest i incubate it myself or let them handle it? im just afraid if it took them dat long to sit on it, it might not make it.
PLEASE HELP ME SO I HAVE A PEACE AT MIND. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. =)
I have two loverbirds too, they're brother and sister but they are also trying to mate...but they haven't found out that they're doing it the wrong way. Should i stop them once they found out who is the male and who is the female?
i have 2 lovebirds and 1 is fisher and the other is blue masked and the started mating 1 week ago.. when the lay the egg and the egg hatches witch color is it gonna be and is it gonna hatch????
i must say.. at first glance on days 1-25 or so... these things are ugly as fuck. but then every time they showed day 30 or more... holy god these little guys are so fucking adorable i want one right now so so much! thanks for posting!
if the mother bird is agressive would that make the baby birds agressive as well?
ALSO we touched my birds babies, we found the baby bird dead, we still dont know but we think the mother did it, is it possible for a mother bird to kill her own babies if you touch them?
o forgot to say dat d reason i left at my aunts cuz so she could have family me aunt has d same types n wen me cousin called me i ask her how did she died she said that me aunt found her dead inside a little bird cage i think she had made a nest already i was thinking dat maybe she was trying to lay her eggs n she couldnt cuz wen she was living with us she layed like 9 or more eggs she sufered so much y did she had to died *sniff*
this song reminds of my female bird budgie she died a week ago on saturday i left her at my aunts at the first month on summer i was thinking of visiting my female budgie but my cousin call mi n told me dat my bird died i was really sad n she was rescue she came to d cage with my other birds she had damaged foot i fed her even bought her own cage *sniff* i miss her i will never forget about her*sniff*
@stargazrt4 , I really need your help! I have two "problems".
Problem #1: I would like to get into the bird breeding 'business', not for the money, for the love :3, What would be a good bird to start with. I was thinking Lovebirds... but i was also thinking Bourkes Parakeets? What do you think? And what do I need to know before I start?
Problem #2: Can you make a short list of the things I will need to buy and your feeding schedule and such..

I have a question it would be really helpfull if you could answer. My question is that my friend's lovebirds had 3 eggs and hes giving me 1. How long should i wait after they hatch to take them away from the mother?
wow 16 years that means you take great care on your bird, the lifaspan of a love bird is up to 15 years idk if its on the wild or in captive... but one thing is for sure your making a great companion for your bird.. good luck to all of us and to our birds

I made some videos when he was 1 day old and one week old. :)
I wish I could know the colours of him. His mom is red and light green and dad is red, yellow and green. Guess he will turn red and green aswell, right?
Anyway, whats the name of the song? I love it really much. :D

I'd like to ask, where do you keep those babies when they 1st hatched, in the cage with the female bird? By the way, what & how do you hand-feed them?
When they're weaned, do they fly around your room or will they stay on the ground? Will it be safe to open my windows? Thanks =)

You would not think that if you were a bird person or they were in your home.

Thats fascinating how they all open their eyes on the same day of growth or near enough, like day 11 every time. It must be so much fun raising them.
