I always like the reactions when people see a black woman representing the Holy Spirit while the churches envision 3 men as being the Holy Trinity. In dutch it's moedervlek or mother mark, also many languages refer to mole as beauty mark. In Spanish it's Lunar from moon. In french grain of beauty. Perhaps in the same way that the apostles only sought to proselytize Jews (until Paul came), excluding Gentiles, our institutions (including the evangelicals), want to monopolize the Holy Spirit, i.e., excluding/demonizing any other definition of the Holy Spirit. We have to ask ourselves what is the core conflict between such institutions and the individual that drives the need to control the very source of life. Why the need to include by exclusion?

well each group has the right to persue its own connection. the problem is that they tend to exclude and demonize the other. in this sense western religions are systems to divide people. the reason for this problem lies in the problem of excluding (the woman). this is the great mystery. yet here lies also the gold. we divide for a great reason. this is why we cannot really grasp indigenous spirituality nor they the western telos. yet we will reconnect to the indig. elders.
