Just when I thought I have heard all the most beautiful songs that this marvelous human ever sang - BOOM - I get hit again in the heart....and the tears flow. Thanks so much.
This is a great song! Inside she was sick at heart because it was the last show of her TV series. She never let on, that she was so sad and disappointed. I have the box set and love each of those shows. Thank God they are preserved!
I agree people always poke fun at her movements but if you notice, her gestures are one of her ways of expressing her singing. Her singing was so great that she belted out like no one else could and even her powerful voice needed her hand gestures and posture to let 100% of that talent out which made seeing and hearing Judy Garland not only joyous and glorious but it was an "Experience" which separates her fromall the rest!
"Time After TIme" is given royal treatment here from Judy's CBS series filled with master class performances of The Great American Songbook...thankfully there are two DVD box set treasures with hours of sublime performances for the true music lover...Judy Garland is the greatest ever, Bravo Judy!
On a Sunday the 22nd of June 1969, The World woke up to the News of Judy Garland's death. The news sent shock waves across the entire planet & for the 7 days the media paid homage to " A Great Lady who had the Ultimate Interview"! Judy, Your fans still mourn your passing. I have the comfort of knowing your spirit was embraced by GOD & that HE showed you HIS infinite peace & all that heaven has too offer you. U brought a lot of joy to me & I thank God for creating you. RIP on this 6/22/10
Very nice graphic. It was widely believed that Judy's nervous use of her hands with the microphone cord turned off legions of people who tuned in to her show. Odd that no one ever grabbed that microphone and told her to just go out and sing, dammit.
Thats what she did. Like no other person before or since. She sang Dammit. Her hands are beautiful. and exciting.Listen to the voice and stop worrying about her hands.
@boogieboy4u Judy's mannerisms flowered under the tuttoring of Kay Thompson--even vocally. But she is faily subdued here--it is a ballad, after all. But the worst of her gestures and twitchy jumping around came from drug use--the speed she used to control her weight. If you watch the special with FRank and Dean she is in total control--and attractively a little plump.
There really no exact adjective that can be used to Describe the World's Greatest Entertainer! But Judy Garland IS and will ALWAYS be MISS SHOW BUSINESS!
Yes, Judy's voice could convey levels of emotion that no other singer has ever match. You hear wistful regret, great passion, longing and sadness.
Its as if she is telling an old flame years after their affair that he was the only one she ever loved and she had never told him that. A 3 minute opera.
She does a great job with this song, a tune that ordinarily never overly impressed me when other vocalists have performed it. I think your backgrounds add an interesting dimension to it and I appreciate your creativity as well. Thanks for another great video!
I think it strange that so few performers today can sing from the heart. yet Judy go's one further with each song becoming a great performance.

@tomorrowsgirl I agree with you. Today there are few with real feeling. The world is not romantic any more. It's all money and commercialism.

@waif55 I agree. I think if she'd been in the Frank and Dean show condition for her series, the show would have garnered many more viewers.

She sings this on my 9th birthday, 3/13/64. Man, what a jerk L.B. Mayer was. What a God given talent she was given to us.
