  • i love how he says lets go get the baneslayer flips a couple packs o there it is

  • this is sad to see. wheres the fun? so you might do your drafting with those other packs but what about everyone else that your showing this too there just going to sell people like me the crap packs. And for you to make money of this selling a book. you should be sued or something by magic.completely wrong

  • @mcouming - I'll let you know as soon as I get sued by magic. In the meanwhile, now you know to stay away from loose packs from shops you don't trust. The More You Know (Tm).

  • Any possible way to predict foils?

  • I just bought both the 1st and the 2nd Edition (because i am not only about mapping but its also just interesting to read the stuff aside)

The Books are really awesome. And mapping wise i can't believe how well worked out the system works for Tenth and Shards of Alara IT IS PERFECT!

But....i couldn't figure out your System for M10 yet though. I send you an email about this :)

I heard you care about your customers and will answer the mail ^_^

  • waow you honestly have the best job ever i only like magic to pen the packs

  • This. Is. Amazing.

  • This is not good for players who buy packs from already open boxes. Greedy stores will be ripping them off.

  • Truely you are the Derren Brown of MtG.

  • Thats sick every prediction right

    WOW

  • I am new to magic and been watching your videos especially these ones. I wonder how you do it. I know you said the book and all but does your website give an overview and tells exactly what it does? (not how cause i know you want people to buy it lol)

  • I drive a honda prelude with some goodies on it!!!

  • if u still hav the baneslayer angel, could u plz trade? i hav an angel deck and i NEED it

  • "If I was a dealer, I'd just be makin out bad ass this" so why don't you If I had the time and the initial start up.

Do you get the feeling Wizards of the Coast even cares that this is out there. It ruins the 'magic' of not knowing what your going to get. I don't fault you a bit if they leave the system this open. I've watched some of the others it just amazes me they leave it like that. I know since I heard of this I quit buying single packs.

  • so i guess its like a 2 in 5 box chance of pulling a baneslayer angel???

  • @KINGKARMA21 - there is one BSA per 121 packs. Much worse than 2 in 5 boxes... slightly worse than 2 in 6 boxes.

  • damnnnnnnnnnn. that is pretty hard 2 get then :/ well i guess i dont have much of a chance then i gotta get super lucky. im getting a box of m10 next week. i guess ill just have 2 keep my fingers crossed. ummm what did u happen 2 do with all the baneslayers u pulled???? do u use them in a deck or do u sell them cause i really want them! haha

  • is it possible to get one of each rare dual land in one box?

  • @batmanrox4 - Possible yes, but unlikely.

  • @recardwizard - how unlikely?

  • @recardwizard I saw that happen when m10 was released a guy opened his first box of m10 ever and got all the duals

  • Thank you, Ross Edwards. It help's pretty well finding the certain rares.

  • your videos are very entertaining and informative. thanks a lot.

  • Jesus christ....So it mean that all the packs in a booster box are chosen?Amazing...Can you do that with zendikar? If yes, i promise i'll buy your book twice...Fucking amazing.

  • hey, I saw on your website that zendikar is type B, so I was wondering if you could just put a video up of you parring it. Or parring futuresight. I'd like to see one of those openings "live"!

  • Sorry to disappoint, but I used all my cases up trying to break the collation, and had none left for filming. Unfortunately I won't be ordering any more as the numbers are no longer as good for full opens after the initial release. (And since I'm not a dealer anymore, it doesn't make sense for me to par a set where I already have a playset of every card in my collection from when I opened my initial order.) Sorry!

  • wow that's impressive! A playset of everything? How many cases do you order when you try to map a set?

  • @magecritic

Usually around 5 to 7. I trade excess playsets, rares, and foils beyond the bare necessities in exchange for Vintage bling, or else I sell the excess cards off to locals, etc.

  • see the pile with jace and ajani?

those arent just piles with jace and ajani on top

    THERE ALL JACVE AND AJANI

    D:

    probs not.

  • 'Fraid not. hehe. they were the foil piles from my first cases, if memory serves.

  • ASLKJDFHA

    WHAT THE FUCK?

    amazing.

  • There are other ways to use the information, which DOESN'T rip off others.

By knowing the rare sequence, you can determine, from the packs opened by people from the same box, whether a rare you want is in the box, and whether to open packs for it. It's fair game and saves money.

Knowing the rare distribution can help find the max, min, average and variance in box yield, indicating whether opening whole boxes is profitable. Again, fair game.

  • Not EVERYONE who follows the channel and buys the book is out to cheat players. Some people want to know how the process happens to AVOID being cheated, in fact.

Stores already have countermeasures: you can't draft with your own packs, packs are shuffled before sold. Among friends, insist on a sealed box, and its packs shuffled before drafting.

Try buying a box, open ONE random pack from it and resell the remaining 35. Then you'll see how mapping leaves a lot of deadweight. It's overrated.

  • Single boosters sell on ebay for $3 a piece, when you buy a box you're getting them for $2 a piece. That's enough profit without getting all the good packs.

And no it isn't okay to see what people open from a box to determine the chance the biggest $ cards are in there. As soon as you determine it's worth looking for and you find it, the rest of the box sucks and the poor guys who buy packs after you aren't going to know it.

To avoid being cheated you don't have to know the maps, bs.

  • Hi. I removed your other posts because you basically flung a lot of allegations out there without really knowing the facts. If you had read the book, you would know that I take a very firm stand on what happens when you resell: if you resell loose packs and misrepresent them as unmapped, that is deception, PERIOD. This deception is going on every single day in the MTG community. Rather than try to be everyone's mother and say "don't do that," I have taught everyone how to protect themselves.

  • On these videos I am speaking "off the cuff" and I have a very irreverent personality, which is nothing new for a CCG nerd. You're not doing anyone a favor by trying to draw some kind of conclusion based on my "tone" or what you think I'm "suggesting" that people do. The book is in print, it's published, it's immutable. I stand by its contents, both mechanically and ethically. If you have a beef with the text, that's fine -- but I won't tilt against your straw-man windmills.

  • I got junk cards because the only local card store that sells magic sells his mapped picked over packs! and he sells his booster boxes for 200 tax in! RIP OFF!!! so I am forced to by a booster box only, but not from him of course. But I thank you for opening my eyes so I will no longer get ripped off. Thanks for teaching me how to protect myself!

  • @acc97 I am happy to help a brother out.

  • @recardwizard If you sell single packs on ebay, you are not required to put weather they are mapped or unmapped, only if they are sealed or not. Everyone will continue to do this and easily make money of it, it is impossible to prove someone of selling "mapped packs" Although this video does help keep people aware. Overall, there is nothing unlawful about selling mapped packs as long as you don't advertise them as unmapped.

  • @ShadowWaker101 - Absolutely right. It is up to the seller to authentically represent the product. If someone offered to sell you a piece of the Shroud of Turin, you wouldn't just take their word for it. You'd investigate and see whether they were a reputable seller. The existence of the mapping system should be a wake-up call for all collectors.

  • You should really get your facts straight; he teaches people how to map their boxes. What they do with the rest of their packs is up to the individual.

As you said, only ignorant people would buy loose boosters now, so mapping boxes means that you're stuck with crap packs, so you still paid a box's price for a few chase cards, a poor proposition.

Guns don't kill people; people kill people. Making mapping public isn't unethical in itself; it's what people do with the knowledge that counts.

  • Damn, your nicest video yet.

  • that's eerie, u were just naming off the good rares i got from my prize booster box on friday<_<

  • Hi, nice videos :) i am thinking of buying hte complete edition when it comes out as i ahve 4 boxes of zendikar on pre order, i would ideally like to open them in the first week of buying the boxes would you suggest i just buythe first edition ? or how long is the complete edition going to take to print?

I live in the UK if that makes a difference with postage time

  • Hi! There's no way the Complete Edition will be out that close to the release of Zendikar. Unfortunately printing alone takes like 5 weeks. :(

  • Hello! I bought your book and the m10 ebook, and noticed that your map that you use in your videos looks like a spreadsheet while the map from the ebook is just a list. How do you line up the map on a spreadsheet? I imagine that the row and column would matter... Please reply, or send me a pm if you feel it would give too much away, before October (when my online retailer gets more m10 in stock). Thank you!

  • The map is a list. The spreadsheet is how I record the box contents. I explain this in the book in the 10th Edition chapter, then how to convert to "mapspeak" in the Shards of Alara chapter. Good luck!

  • "one thing for sure, you can't give the nerd money" LOL

  • Hey do you actually make money off of the boxes you buy? On average.

  • I wish i have money to buy one of this boxes... I didn't need to predict what will have inside... But this is sure a preety good video! :-D

  • he drafts

  • Can I have the Archdruid? :)

  • wat do you do with the extra packs?

  • sells them, the cards he gets out of packs are worth more than the packs (they are worth more open) the other packs have less expensive cards (they are worth more sealed) so he can sell them and make a profit

  • Doesn't it kinda ruins the fun of suprise and excitement?

But it does save your money :)

  • You're making M10 booster boxes cost more! jk...

  • wow holy cow, how can you even now what's in a box before it's even opened? that's some bad ass skills man

  • Why thank you sir. It's nice to see people appreciating a demonstration of expertise. :) In answer to your question: Lots and lots of practice and preparation.

  • that is nuts man, congratulations of finding out the system behind it, that is sweet

  • my ball lightning was exactly in the same booster as yours :-)

  • What do you do with your extra packs?

  • Mostly booster drafting. It's not worth bothering to sell extra packs at $2 each if you're just going to buy packs again to draft with for more than that, so I just cut out the middle step and throw the loose extra boosters right into my draft bin.

  • Dude thank you so much for the vid. realy opened my eyes. - if it aint shrink rapped and never touched i aitn buying it now lol

  • how can we get updates to new packs do we have to buy the book again

you sir are a god in this realm of MTG

  • Thanks! Once you own the book you never have to buy the book again, but as new sets are released, I put them out as ebooks at a reduced price. For example the M10 ebook module is $9.99

  • what do u do with all the left over cards and packs?

  • I just bought a box on M10 on eBay, and when I received it, it was shrinkwrapped/sealed. In watching this video, however, I noticed that it appears your shrinkwrap on the box has the Wizards logo on it. If my shrinkwrap does not have the little white logos on it, does this mean that I have been had? An eBay dealer already used this method to figure out which packs had useful cards, and left me the jank packs?

    I'd really appreciate a reply.

  • That is VERY possible. EVERY WOTC product since something like Ice Age or 4th Edition or around that time period has had the Wizards logos in the shrink wrap. When the Wizards logo changed from straight to curved a few years ago, the box logos also changed.

I would seek a refund and not open the box if your box does not have the Wizards logos on it.

  • Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

  • This is your sickest video to date, really nice, no mess ups what so ever(except the shivan dragon hehe)... I have been thinking of buying your book, but because i lieve in Denmark i haven't done it, because i don't know how the shipping works, and if you even do ship it abroad.?

  • Yes, I can get you the print edition internationally if you like and also there is an ebook option. (And the M10 module is ONLY an ebook at this point.) Go to my blog at the URL in the video information panel above, and you will be able to get whatever you need. :)

  • i have 15 bucks to use

should i buy 3 packs or a core set(i got a white core that luckily had 2 lightwielder paladins foil)

  • Buy singles.

  • WTF?

  • does the correlation also work with foils?

  • nope sorry. foils are inserted at complete random =/

  • Sort of. There is a "foil cycle" and the M10 module explains it. However, you can know you're getting a foil rare and still not know WHICH foil rare. Baneslayer Angel or Nightmare? Big quality difference.

  • I would get that, but i never buy boxes. But thats insane.

  • first comment!!!

anyways awesome dude im buyin your book now. is this in it? or will this just be in the computer format?

  • The M10 module is ebook only for now. Whenever I print 2nd edition (which will definitely be after Zendikar but I'm not sure beyond that) it will include the M10 map.
