  • Make sure you dont waste meat.....LOL. make sure you get the belly meat where all the fat and toxins are. Dont just do a good job at keeping all the good meat, get all the meat and feed your kids and friends the hi fat hi toxin belly meat also......Not.....Good Job

  • @anre1018 Crappies and other panfish don't live long enough or get big enough to build up levels of toxins high enough to hurt even the smallest kids. You'd have a point with a big walleye or catfish, but not a panfish.

  • filets should resemble the shape of the fish your cleaning , if not your wasting meat,we usually have someone take out ribs with small filet knife before skinning ,sometimes we have to keep a few small ones because they swallow it so i try not to waste anything,when you have a lot of fish to do electrics are the way to go for time

  • @derekjeter1234567890 u are right my grandpa use to catch 50-60 of these a day alotta times on horse head rigs Trolling. This with the electric knife ended up being a real time saver after u got it down too a science

  • only thing he did wrong is not using a regular filet knife to cut the rib bone from the meat. slice under the bone and save the meat.

  • I'm used to filleting the other way round: first the back flesh, then the belly.

    That way the ribcage stays in the fish, and you wont lose all that meat in separating it as he did in the video.

  • i hate using electric knifes to fillet a fish that's why i don't do it and crappie's are one of the tastiest fresh water fish you can catch ..... besides the walleye.

  • Ok i may be wrong, but i think the fish was half alive, look at the fins at the beginning of the video, but since i keep hearing wind blowing at the camera mic it may be just that, but if its alive then shame on you.

  • I agree. I do like to get all the meat, but if I had to do it all myself, I'm sure if I had a bucket full I'd be taking the easy way out.
