Who wants to keep spending a trillion dollars ayear on imported oil? $45 oil, with the TA TA Car on the market soon in the US! Humdred's of millions new drivers in China and India. Amtrak was set up because the private tax paying railroads were forced out of the business by government roads and airports with taxes on train tickets. The final blow was the highway lobby getting the mail put on trucks. 20 car trains were replaced by 50 trucks,fuel tanks and 50 drivers!

@intercityrailpal You should know Amtrak has been breaking ridership records for 6 years now. I don't know how, with poor service and sold out trains. You drive a smelly diesel. Amtrak gets 500 passenger miles per gallon with their diesels. What are you getting ONE? Just you in the truck, right? 500 people hauled one mile and your getting ONE PER MILE! I think we need a $10 tax on gas to pay for the wars and road work of the private highway lobby.

I think that's because GE a american company has moved to China, isn't it? GE is a good prorail company. That's why I love em. But I don't like them buidling things overseas. In trains it's been GE vs GM for years. Watch a" streetcar named denial " right on youtube.

Wind doesn't always blow, so you still need reliable, predictable sources of power to be able to meet demand.

It's not as simple as you make it out to be.

I don't like Rush.  But, it must be true. I'm watching both CSPANs. I heard a Rep, I believe from Kentucky, say that in his speech. It's sad the way our gov't treats us. But, in the short, don't spend your stimulus check money. If you do, only buy U.S. made products. Then send a thank you card to China, tell them We The People are sorry.

@gritpod Remember the trillion dollars ayear in oil imports from the mideast. They buy such nice things with the money right? If you can take the train do it. Trains can haul humdreds of people a mile on a gallon of fuel. Work to get rid of dangerous crossings that make drivers wait for the new 3 mile long trains. This money is in the High Speed Rail program. Finally pay off debt, stop chargeing everything. The banks and oil companys are not all american owned anymore.
