@YvesWonGhz17 A CRT actually works by an electromagnetic coil in the "neck" of it. The magnetism bend the electron beams to paint a picture. The magnet at the front will also bend the beams, semi-randomly. This can also break the CRT because the shadow mask (what separates the colors) can either become magnetized (which can be fixed with a special tool) or become warped (no practical remedy for that)
@HelmutVillam what are you talking about if you put a magnet near a hard drive it turns into a super computer. Dont tell the millionth person to post a magnet on a tv screen lies thats just not right 8D
I did this with a harddrive magnet. All you do is just turn the monitor off for 5 mins and its back to normal when on. I never had a monitor that stayed.
Now my grammas TV, boy that was a different story, it stayed!
I had a problem with the magnetic field emanating from a transformer located in a locomotive rail yard...magnetized my CRT and I had to spend about ten minutes degaussing the monitor before the picture returned to normal.
right behind the face of the screen inside of the tube is a metal shadow mask, and if this gets deformed or pulled out of alignment by the magnet, it screws up the image permanently.
that = LSD visuals :-D

@thePasQo9 I think the phenomenon is analogous to the gravitation distortion around a blackhole. Idk it looks like that.

This is also destructive to your CRT, so don't do it too much and press "Degauss" in your CRT settings.

When I was a little kid I tried that with an old speaker magnet on our color TV.
Lucky for me the funky colors went away after triggering the degaussing circuit a few times.

How about electrical field between HV concacts? And would be interesting to see a magnetiс field of an electromagnet, regulating the current.

just make saure you don't use a powerful magnet.
right behind the face of the screen inside of the tube is a metal shadow mask, and if this gets deformed or pulled out of alignment by the magnet, it screws up the image permanently.
