I remember one summer maybe 95 or 96 I took my Sega Cd to a family friends house in Chicago, rented this game at blockbuster and it blew my little mind.
Glad you put his up! I love the beginning song and was incredibly disappointed and angry when I bought the Playstation version and the songs were changed.
oh wow, they completely Re-did lunar legend rather then just doing some graphical enhancements and other things to make it fit, they completely changed the Character design for some of the outfits, as well as the Area's.
Somehow this makes me want to vomit knowing I just bought the damn thing for my GBA SP.......and it's not even the same GAME anymore......
this is shot on a emulator. I can tell because the sound is 2 full seconds behind. the music doesn't mix with the video as it should :( poor video. fix it.
I have the privilege of owning both silver star and eternal blue on sega cd. Both original purchases. Still one of the best rpg's to this day.. unbelievable...
how gezz Nall's original voice is so very annoying (playing the PSP version) I think im going to play this one too just to see how it was originally after I beat the PSP one
@Raglan1565 I agree. I loved Alex with the harp and when he got the ocarina in the PSX version it reminded me of legend of zelda. Which I like both but I thought it was better when Alex had something different than Link. : )
I love the Sega CD version of the game - the intro music is classic (very 1980s, even though the game itself was 1992-93). The Silver Star Story Complete version is quite excellent, but the Sega CD version will always have a special place in my heart!
Oh...and Luna's Song sounds WAY better on the PSX version. I know some might disagree with me, but that song was so beautiful. Especially when Alex was playing the Ocarina.
Actually....the original song was on the soundtrack that came with the one for PSX. I was always wondering where the heck that music came into play. (I wasn't able to get a SegaCD in my young age, xD). So if you got the game with the soundtrack and everything you had the music from the original.
Is it me, or does the woman that sings that song remind you of the one who sings "#1" from Bleach.
I loved this game when I was a kid. The original music is so much better than the remake on PS1 and Saturn. Such a shame they couldn't port the original music in.
Yeah, the PS1 version was such an improvement. Being able to traverse a world map with no random battles is an improvement in the RPG genre as a whole.
To everyone stating that the remake is superior, well, yeah, it is, of course. The Sega CD was pretty limited, even in its time. Its not like the two were made to compete. I doubt you could really appreciate the original had you not played it when it was the only one around, though. The nostalgia is what makes this for me.
You know, I thought the way the story played out in the original Sega CD version was better than the remakes, and I like the encounter system better in the original. Plus I loved this opening song. Lunar on Sega CD made me fall in love with RPGs, it was the first one that I really got lost in. Either way, it is a great series.
I have played the SEGA version and the PSX version, and I think that the SEGA version is a bit... lacking.
For example, you can hear all the songs in the game spare a few on his ocarina, but not the harp. There are too many spoilers in the opening of the SEGA version, and the battle system is kind of off. The remake also comes with a soundtrack and making-of video, for those of you thinking of buying it from eBay or whatever the hell so you don't get ripped off with just the game.
Oh my god!!!! This is crazy. I played this when I was in 7th grade or something like that. Memories keep flashing in my head to no end. Working Designs...RIP.
This brings back alot of memories. I had that game and played it for hours and hours on end!!! Later got it on the PS and again went through memories!! But this was my first exposure to the game which will always hold a place in my heart. Thanks for posting it!!!
Wow thanks for posting this, i coulda sworn Nall got of a few swares at the beginning tho. Man this brings back memories i LOVED the theme of the first town, and also the bad guy theme XD
man hella sweet, brings back memories aplenty. Never played the PS version as I played the hell outta this one, I love how ludicrously easy the game got near the end. I pretty much did the last 6 hours or so with just Alex, plus when Ramus lets you have free run of his shop and sell everything back to him its endless money lol
Your right, it was easy. The good thing though is that the story and characters made up for it being so easy. Random question: Remember when Nash betrayed Alex then he came back and was cool again? If you can remember how that beef went down, enlighten me please because I can't remember.
He betrayed Alex in the same manner as he did in the remake (taking the Dragon Helmet and leaving with Xenobia in the Blue Dragon Cave), but he rejoined the party in Tamur after you returned from Myght's Tower. He explains that he was only pretending to betray Alex so that he could sneak behind enemy lines and gather information. He then tells the party about the Fountain of Transfer that can take them to the Frontier. How big a geek am I to remember all that? haha
