This sounds like half my relatives on the phone! They have nothing to say to you in person, but the second they have you on the phone, they talk for two hours! About nothing!!!! I have actually done that holding the phone away from my ear thing! No problem, they never ask any questions or shut up long enough to let you talk. Phone calls should, by law, be no longer then 90 seconds! They also be illegal, except in case of emergency after 10 pm.

EXACTLY why i dread answering the phone if i don't know who it is. most people talk too long, about nothing, & IF you're asked about YOUR day, life, etc., they're ignoring u b/c YOUR "boring" (to them) answers give them...:1)chance to look like a caring friend who LISTENS, thus proving no way are they totally self absorbed, &2)a "mini break" to work on how they'll somehow flip the chat right back to THEIR oh so interesting, impressive life, their painful new hangnail details..i lovecaller id!!!
