i just ordered a 17 " macbook pro with 3.2 ghz duo core processor, 8 gb of ram, a 500 gb HD @ 7200 RPM and a Nvidia 9800 GT dedicated graphics card....this thing is gonna be a gaming BEAST. should have it on my lap playing crysis on highest settings by friday :D
yeah man! i'll put up an unboxing video on my page and i'll put up vids of it running elder scrolls oblivion and some mac game demos once i have it up and running. If you wanna check those out this weekend or w/e subscribe to my page
honestly i would say the performance of CS Source is actually quite good on a macbook pro. it runs fine in my regular macbook. but try crysis warhead. even with a decent graphics card , it loses frames quite alot. i can never run it in full reso
38 fps in an engine thats several years old thats not impressive, doesnt matter if "screen flow" is running. In all honesty, i've burned a cd, Decoded an entire 8 GB torrent, published a 45GB Windows Movie Maker Movie(i forget what format)- and played CSS at 1680X1050 everything maxed out including maxed AA and got well over 130FPS. Even my old Athlon FX53 and ATI X850XT system got well over 70 FPS. I dont get why the Mac Book is so slow when its using PC based hardware. Lack of a good GPU.
well of course its laggy, all screen recording softwares lag your computer to an extent. this doesn't exactly reflect the comnputer's actual preformance
I realy wanted an upgraded 17" model but hey the 15" cool enough with me :) - check out my profile stewartfromscotland where i will be soon doing vids similer to you. unboxing, firstlook, gaming, and so on :) i got to wait 7 to 10 days for delivery! DAM you apple lol.
ya the fps should be higher but I just remembered that I forgot to do the affinity trick before I did the vista benchmark, apparently that will bump up my fps by 30-50%.
So I will be retesting the fps on my vista partition and putting the results in the video via annotations.
Thanks Guys.
oh ya, I will be getting the 64 bit version of vista and that should help as well because it allows me to utilize the full 4 gigs of ram instead of just 3.

hey dude, i just order the new macbook pro 15"
i got the 2.8Ghz cpu and the 320Gb 7200rpm drive! along with its 4gb ram and new gfx! cant wait!!!
DundeeDude 3 years ago
I'd be interested in your bench marks when you get it, should be pretty sweet,
faster processor(2.8ghz), faster ram(1066mhz instead of 667) and faster front side bus on the processor (1066mhz instead of 800)

my moniter can go up to 1650x1050
flamingbullets 3 years ago
you should get the option to get 1650 x 1050. I'm pretty sure it is hardware dependent not software

one other thing , can you benchmark cs source at a lower rez and settings on vista and tell me what score you get?
DundeeDude 3 years ago
try benchmarking with bootcamp winxp! much more fps i think.
