The writers need to make a storyline to bring Emily back, Helena kidnapped Emily after she found her alive after the ball Nickolas held and wiped her memory and made her Rebecca Shaw. That is the perfect storyline to bring Nickolas back from being away from the show as well as Rebecca Shaw who is really Emily brainwashed by Helena because Helena wants Emily away from Nickolas at all costs but they find their way back to each other in 2012 They should really consider doing this to bring her back
