Personally I have never heard an Australian say "SEKS" not unless they are taking the piss out of a New Zealander. Although I have heard New Zealanders say "sux" not because they are saying a 'U' rather than an 'I', but because the 'I' isn't properly enunciated and the sound of going straight from 'S' to 'X' gives a 'U' sound. The Maori`s in particular have deep voices & i think that people try to adapt their own voices to also sound deep. And that's where I think people begin to lose their clarity.
