Saxonburg, PA---I made lots of memories here! Many moons ago I hauled to and from a US Steel sintering plant that was located nearby, and also a nearby forge and foundry. That was way back when I was still a crazy young kid.
Don't do it!!!!!! Don't be a trucker unless it is the LAST thing in the world you have to do...and Don't drive for Prime....or Stephens or any of those "super lease" company!
Why would you let your truck run so low on fuel? Plenty of places on I-77 between Charlestown and Parkersburg to stop for fuel.
And why would you go through downtown Pittsburgh on your way to New Castle for fuel? If you would have unloaded yourself at Aldi's in Saxonburg you could have gotten out of there a whole lot sooner.
I'm thinking about becoming a truck driver, but I am kinda concerned about finding my way around, I am not the greatest at reading a map, but I think I could find my way...do you use gps or does the company provide you with directions or maps? Awesome video!!
I love your videos, I am a 17year old boy from Belguim and I'm dreaming to go to America as a truck driver because Trucking in Europe is ruined by east-european. Is it true you can still drive day and night in america ?
Hey Journey, I am considering OTR driving. I am about to get my CDL soon (still practicing for State Exam in PA after failing a few times:-(..But I think your channel is very informative and hope you do more trips just to show us newbs some of the things we can expect coming into the industry. Keep up the good work and be safe! Later bro
Im not sure what company you work for but I would like to stay away from them. They made you dead head from Falconer, NY to New Castle, Pa an easy 130 mile trip just to send you to the shittiest state in the whole NE. NJ is the worst place I have ever been. The people are so nasty there. I will stay in the SE and make the same if not more money than you guys who run NE.
Wow! Im sorry if I hurt your little yankee feelings. But what I was sying is the people in NJ think they are better than everyone else. I was in Trenton about 2 years ago. I had never been there and didnt know where the shipping office was. I found a door and went in to simply ask where to go. Let me tell ya, they told me alright. I never heard such language from a "professional" person. Go anywhere in the sounth and people are willing to help. Not in the north.
@Woodpipemaker I do phone work at a consulting firm, and when I see that a call is coming in from NJ, I cringe! Those folks have HUGE egos, and they want everything done yesterday. It's not ALL people from the NE, but I'd say NJ, CT, and NY are by & large ingrates. They aren't just rude to southerners, either. They don't realize which state they're calling, but I do have a MW accent. They're just rude to everyone. Thank God , I'm not from NJ. Keep the shiny side up, and the dirty side down.
I like your videos. I'm thinking about becoming a trucker. Can you tell me a good company to start with? I don't have any experience or a CDL. So I need a lot of advice.
@guitarzinhand Ya, like he said. I'm starting my school soon and they help me find a company to work for after. My cousin just completed the school and is now driving trucks everyday. I'm next! :)
@guitarzinhand you trying to drive trucks you can go to a school and get it and get loan or what i did i went to jobcorps the goverment paid for it 4700bucks and u dont have to pay it back at all period. or you can check companys out that will train you but you probably have to stick it out with that company and pay money back little by little out your check weekly. check swift out they suck but its a start and one of few companys that do train good just ran by shitty ppl Prime, FFE,KLLM,
hey there vince! been watching your series and im really enjoying it! i must point out one thing...your trailer tires at 0:28 look really bald..or is that just the camera? very cool vids! im subscribing!
Can you bring friends/Family with you on your hauls? I'm really thinking about doing this for a few years to see where I wanted to see and bank some money. Basically live with parents when i'm home and when I'm on the road be very carefull with money. However, I'm engauged and i'm 19, Were having a long engaugement, But i'd like to bring my girl along with me on my trips? Is this possible?
yes you can if your company knows about it and they are of age. And get your girl a CDL. team drivers can make 100,000 a year. If those wheels are rolling your making money. Every week you work thats a day off :)
The bad thing about team drivers is one is driving while the other is sleeping which might work if you can sleep in a moving, bouncing noisy truck. Hard to do until you get used to it.
@kingmike40 oh man i hear that ..i used to go with dad on his night run down through brampton Ontario...nothing like bouncing around in an old Mack vison at 3am trying to sleep!
from haynes 1776; There are trucking companies that will allow you to bring love ones with you. also, they have insurance policies to cover them so in case of an accident, they will be covered. Still, its great to have family come with you. Kills the bordom. I wish you the best. Be safe.
Wouldn't it be more pleasant to just rent a car if u don't have one and visit some places your up to, should be more fun than trucking to some places that company have told you so.
@alexapirot32 I mean, It's not just to see the sights, It's about saving money.. For the experience and other reasons. Thanks everyone for there advice. But, It's been a dream of mine for a while, I'm a pretty damn good driver, I'm 18 and drive a heavy wrecker and also driving a 21ft flat bed extended cab and also firetrucks, I love trucks so.. Even though the pay may not be amazing, I think i'd enjoy it very much. Thanks everyone once again.
I'm thinking about doing this later in life. Say your living out of your truck on a long haul or something..On your down time after you get rested up, if you still need more hours off to be legal, what do u do? sleep more, visit places around where your at? Just curious.
Hi Vince. I am a polish trucker from Chicago. I`ve been driving for 8 years. I used to do LTL between Chicago and most eastern states. I`ve been driving on most of roads you show in the video. I am home right now. When I watch this video I feel like I was driving these roads again without leaving home. Funny feeling to see the places I know so well withhout having to get of my coutch
I was born in Poland, but have been living here in the states, most of my life.
Thinking about becoming a trucker; watching some of this dudes videos. - He's got some good stuff here.
How much can truckers earn ?
What's realistic ?
With being on the road a lot, it seems like it would be kinda like being in the military. Because a trucker might not be spending all his dough all the time, buying stuff he doesn't need.
@VeteransAgainstKonop I would say about $36,000 to $42, 000 your first year. If you have any questions let me know you really have to be careful when chosing a trucking company. Good Luck .
Hey vince could you please tell me what the exact name of this song is please. Tiesto has alot of songs... trust me he's my favorite techno artist lol
you put a load lock up which is basicly a bar going from one wall of the trailer to the other which prevents it from tipping back. but you have no way of securing it totaly 100%
I could not drive for a company that did fuel routing like that. I have done it, and they get you too low sometimes. I ran out of fuel once with them, and that was a big waste of time.
I was driving a KW T-600 a few years ago and ran out on a flat Interstate. There was still 60 gal of fuel in the tanks, but it would not pick it up. I could fuel anywhere, but the company preferred Flying J. I was 10 miles from the J when the truck quit. A Cat is a real bear to start after it runs out..
