That Hasta el Final song is relatively new... only coming out on the (June 2011) Spanish Album... a very beautiful song. Gianluca describes himself as a baritone, & I must say that, to me, he sounds like one. Love his voice here. it's dramatic with a touch of sadness. Ignazio & Piero are just wonderful, too.

My guess is that Ignazio's diet is a bit of both... he's doing it for his own health... but I bet Universal/Geffen also may have suggested it. I bet they did a computer graphics simulation of how he would look more slender, which he probably liked.

I'm sure they're providing a nutritionist with tasty (as well as healthful) meals for him. Gianluca mentioned in one interview about how much Ignazio loves food. Dropping weight is one thing... keeping it down is another... good luck Ignazio...

@TheAerohart Ignazio is on a diet since they went on an Asia promotion (not concerts) starting in late July. It was commented on in the IL VOLO Malaysia videos. It will be nice for people to NOT call him the "chubby one". As a thinner person, he may not be as cuddly as he is now... but he could give Gianluca a run for his money! Ignazio has the nicest smile... and IMHO he is the funniest of the 3. He appears to be the only one who knows Spanish... although they're all learning English.

I think that the doubts about lip sync'ing are being answered in new videos IL VOLO produces... you'll notice slight differences, such as who sings what, sometimes a comment made in the song to the audience ("sing along")... sometimes a mixing of languages during verses of the songs (Italian-English, Italian-Spanish), etc...

I think that people thinking that IL VOLO is lip sync'ing... is actually a complement to IL VOLO's recording studio quality voices and talent, rather than an insult! ;-)

Also, do a find on "I migliori anni della nostra vita", and pick the Ti Lascio Una Canzone version. It will show Gianluca (& Piero) singing with the contestants of the show... great performance. Also good is Veronica Liberati, the lead female singer. Everyone loved Gianluca!

Gianluca's voice is definitely similar to Josh Groban's, and like Josh, he doesn't sound like a true tenor or baritone, but somewhere in the middle. Piero and Ignazio sound more like true tenors.

There (although the voice and image are way out of sync) you will see a 14 year old emotionally overwhelmed Gianluca when his idol sends him (via a video feed) congratulations and tips on singing (translated in the comments).

His feet almost buckle under him when he first sees Bocelli greeting him by name, and his amber eyes well up with tears of joy.

Some folks have suggested that Gianluca may not even end up a true tenor in the future. So he remains a classic crossover singer, instead of Opera.... that actually would be a relief in a sense... since true Opera is such a limited genre.

Geffen Records/Universal Music need to come out with an IL VOLO DVD. And this particular video certainly demonstrates why!

@cloudheart11 When I first heard this, I was thinking the same thing as you were. But then I went back to listen to the American Idol and seaside castle versions of O Sole Mio. I couldn't tell them apart either. IF they did lip sync this, it may have been due to problems with an inferior sound system at this venue. IL VOLO is so good at singing, that they have perfect pitch and know all their songs. They have been singing separately since age 3, so they may really have these songs down pat!

I'm not saying they would mess up if indeed it were live, because I don't believe they would; BUT, I do think the song would have inconsistencies from the original because despite the fact that they're amazing singers, they're human, also. :)

Gianluca sings 90% of the song, and it's magnificent... especially since they sing together in that song more than most. Read my comments there...
