and reading the subtitles during the whole movie is quite annoying because you can't concentrate on the act.

I don't know if there is an official name for the series but you got; Kompani Orheim, which is a prequel about his childhood problems. Charlotte Isabel Hansen, which is set seven years after this movie, it's basicly about Jarle fighting his inner demons while finding out that he has a daughter, and the latest one. Which i sadly don't remember the title, but here Jarle Klepp is an adult man during the Smiths reunion tour in Norway. All of the books are extremely well written and i reccomend them.

I frequently wonder the same thing. I'm not so sure myself, but I don't think Yngve lost his memory. He kisses him and I honestly don't think Yngve would randomly kiss a man.

He's in the hospital for attempted suicide (that is what I've gather from the film). What I want to know is what happened to Jarle and Yngve because they didn't look too happy when they parted ways.

I know have a better answer for you. . . In the movie it seems that Yngve is in there for attempted suicide, but if your listen to the conversation Jarle has with the Yngve's sister it sounds like he is in there for mental issues (schizophrenia according to the book) <-- which is possible, the kid said he was having headaches which might mean the situation between Jarle & him could've triggered hallucinations. But I think Jarle is going to stay with Yngve because at the end justs before the...

film ends. They play that song, "Love Will Tear Us Apart", which seems geared toward his relationship between Helge and Katrine. His love for Yngve will always be a conflict between them and so he had to make a choice and he chose Yngve apparently. Getting on the bus was sort of an obvious symbol about moving on, letting the past remain so and looking onward to the future be it bright or bleak.

I used a long time thinking about that too, but after reading the book I got a completely different feel about the whole story. I don't know if you read it, but the whole book ends with "I kissed Yngve" And they are planning on meeting for more tennis sessions and visits and such. I think they ended up together. I hope they did :)

I don't mean to be rude, but the whole point of the ending is Jarle realising how bad Yngve's mental condition really is, that's why he gets so sad when Yngve asks him about playing tennis in the movie, he knows that will never happen.

And, since Jarle mentions his current girlfriend and claims to have forgotten Yngve, I personally think that they did not see each other again, and I also think that is what the end of the movie indicates... But the again, that is just my opinion.
