some dude on here was like people with ocd are dumb because they should just be able to stop doing it! then he goes i had rituals for 5mins....dude that's MILD! try 2 plus hours stuck in a room because you keep going back and forth over the door threshold. or how about 4 hours to get ready for school because you cant stop washing your hands. you experience that and then try saying its easy to get over it. there's some ocd sufferers who cant even get out of their house. aah the ignorance!!!!!!!

ocd is a right bastard to live with, its hard to enjoy anything because of the fears it causes...its a life sentance for many of us...before ocd life was great..

Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that an abusive or traumatic situation in life can escalate one's disease. This is true of most all anxiety disorders. Such disorders are frustrating, because you can deal with them and resolve some of the problems, but if something triggers it, you are back where you started, or worse.
You might want to talk to a doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist if you are having problems coping and have not already done so.
This is such a well done video. I have suffered from OCD since I was 11 and am opposed to taking medications. So I just deal with it, day and night, even in my dreams.
I have OCD and I want to dedicate this to all the people who have this condition. I bet most of the people who wrote angry comments are teenagers. You are angry because this problem has made you dissable in many ways, because you feel like your anxiety and your thoughts are taking over you, because you find no meaning to life whatsover. We have all the rights to be angry , I never asked for a problem like this but yet I have it, and yet I choose to be happy and you know what, you should too.
I HAVE THE SICKEST OCD POSSIBLE.....ALL U GUYS SUFERING I CAN FEEL, UNDERSTAND THE PAIN U ARE SUFFERING, BUT LIFE AND DA WORLD ISNOT GNA STOP CZ OF US,,WE GTA MOVE WORK HARD...I TAKE AM Zolpidem (Ambien, Stilnox) 20 MG AND DAT RELAXES ME FOR 3...TO 4 HOURS....ELIMINATES MY OCD TO A GREAT EXTEND...U SHUD TRY...IT FEELS SO GUD TO BE NORMAL FOR SOME TYM
Im a manager in a fortune 50 firm, and have been an A+ student throughout and worked hard for this all my life, just to see myself suffering from this senseless disease. As soon as you try to switch your thought or one fear it tries to fool you to think abt the other fear, harmming ur family, cursing ur boss, etc etc. I dont know if this is bad karma, all ive done is help people. Do any of u suffer frm some of the thoughts that Ive shared?
OCD is so bad I wish i could substitute it for cancer. I actually developed OCD symptoms as late as when i was 28. One of my worst fears became that i will myself cause some kind of accident while driving especially on single lane roads. It came as a shock to me because I loved driving. Ive still been driving for more than 100k miles, and the OCD is now much weaker, although I may never be able to enjoy. My OCD triggers as soon as any object or vehicle passes by.
@vgaymer, I know it is difficult, but force yourself to resist the OCD urges with all your strength. The resulting anxiety will eventually decrease. OCD lies to people and makes unwarranted threats.
@305BallerEJ than you didn't really have ocd. most people with ocd recognise that what their doing is strange and irrational, but it's a mentall problem so they can't just stop it. they aren't being stupid, they have chemical inbalances in their brains, if you just decided to stop than either your ocd was practically non existant, or you never really had it, you were just one of those people going around saying that they're "ocd like that". although usually their behavior is closer to ocpd...
@AlbinoBlueSquirrel i know what you mean, but trust me i really did have it. i used to spend 5 minutes opening and closing doors because i didnt touch them right or because i felt like if i didnt do it just right my day would be fucked up or something bad would happen to me. and thats just one of the things i used to do....i also used to count my steps in my head and count almost everything. until this day sometimes i get urges to ritual but i thank God he gave me the will power to get past it.
@TheDM75 first of all idc what anyone thinks...in addition to that, i know i had ocd. i just stopped it before it got to an uncontrolable extreme like some people have. i still have little ocds to this day but they are minimal. i also know that if you were in front of my face you wouldnt call me a dumbass cus id knock your DUMBASS out. trust.
@305BallerEJ Your a dumbass, you by yourself can't cure it. Don't even say shit like that to get attention. Why would you call people with ocd a dumbass? Its not their fault you deserve to have ocd you little shit. I'd like to see you have it for at least 1 day and you will see how much of a dumbass you really are.
@EricChris8 who the fuck says i by myself cant cure it??? i know i had it and i know i cured it with pure will. whenever i had a dumbass compulsion and urge to do a ritual i would just will myself to keep going on with my day. i had it from the time i was like 12 til i was about 17. so why dont you just stfu you fagget ass DUMBFUCK.
I recommend to all people who have obessive thoughts and compulsions to read the book called the power of now by eckhart tolle. It really helped me with my irrational fears.
i know friend who is master in Reiki method, he did cured few people wth ocd in less than 30 min, its real and fast he used his power and send it to the person with ocd, and it did work, if you like more information on this please call(403)397-8488, i live in calgary, AB canada.
I am one of the girl sacting in the vide, our lines were the testimony of REAL sufferers, as they did not want their identities to be known. This was a student film for a college course, and any enquiries should be made to the writer & director, Andrew J Moore.OCD is a very real and debilitating illness but this short piece should not be taken as a definitive guide to the condition, given that this is a showreel of a directors work.
i know the girl michelle and mary jo is her friend. mary jo i have no idea if she has ocd but michelle most definatly doesnt and has NONE of those symptoms. not even close. WTF?! Does the Uni lecturer who is putting her face to this know this??!
ugh i've got crazy ocd. to the point where i hate going to bed cause i have so many different routines I have to do before I get in my actual bed. I unplug electronics, make sure doors are locked, go in and out of my room, check behind the shower, knock on wood, make sure all my cds and objects are the way i like it. i do all these things at least 5-10 times or more everyday.... ive had it since i was a kid but i finally realized it is ocd. awesome....
Im pretty sure i have OCD so let me give one example: Im in the car and I want to change the radio station so i press the button on the edge. Now what!? I keep touching the edges of the circular button untill i evenly touched the button. Then i touch the top. But, if its too far left then i touch far right then up and down then i try my best to touch the button one last time. This happened to me when i was 12 and my mom was telling me to quit it. I tell her that i cant help it. She disagreed.
i can not sleep if i do not have a white shirt on O.o iv tried just sleeping in a different colored shirt but i find my self feeling really uncomfortable and laying awake in bed until i change it. Anyone else do this?? xD
I think i may have ocd. I have to pop my knuckles all the time and they all have to be popped the same ammount of times, and it has to be an even number of times. Does that sound like ocd?
@rmmiller1998 it sounds like a mild case of ocd but if that is the only thing that bothers you it may just be, for lack of a better term, a "pet peeve." sometimes people just develop weird habits like that when in stressful situations or states of anxiety but that is completely normal.
if you are having other obsessive thought or compulsions or start to feel panicked when you dont crack your knuckles "the right way" then it is most likely ocd.
thankyou, i'm seeing a cbt person next week. when you have OCD it is very hard to communicate to loved ones how you feel or why you do what you do. You become very isolated and this in turn fuels the problem. So much so it usually ends relationships. I'm going to make my partner watch this and hopefully make her see how it is.
Horrible illness, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. You always live in fear because you never know when it's going to strike again after you finally think you've beaten it. Great vid.
God damn... im like 1/4th scottish and i can only understand half of the shit they're saying... I'm American... but at least American english is clear enough to hear every word the person is saying. call me out all you want... i'm probably more ethnically scottish than half you faggots.
I had OCD until I was about 12. I did an assortment of things such as washing my hands alot. I got over it and it wasn't really all that big of deal. Wasn't that hard, just takes discipline and self control. To be honest, if you cant get over OCD, you lack character and discipline.
well, i have the repetive behavior, like if i touch lets say a door knob with my right hand, i have to touch it with my left hand. and theres MANY things similar to that, i'm 13 too. also if i look at something, i have to look at it a couple of times, until it feels right. and i absolutly hate capital letters. and i have to put periods at the end of sentences, or like my name at school. theres many more.
Watching this I am worried about her door and stove for her. If I watch tv shows where other people are suffering or doing things wrong like murder or whatever, I carry an extreme sense of worry or guilt like I have done these things myself. Sucks,I was able to stop my rituals which used to take up to 3 hrs a day, random I never knew when they would hit, but still carry extreme loss of control of my thought process.I am going to try Amoryn the vitamin because I am getting worse again.Age 5 to 40.
All this time I thought it was just something I did just because. But when you do certain things, it's sort of like a wave of release...makes you feel better. For me, I hate germs, can't turn off lights or unplug stuff without it doing it about 4 or so times until I feel safe about doing it and don't think of anything bad while doing it. I also like to say things that sound good, with K's, L's, G's. Ex. if i unplug a light and think of someone dying or a swear, I plug it in again b4 I unplug it
@antiScientoligist ive got to the point it killed me 3 times kidny faliure my life is hell ive suffered 4 35 yrs now in therpoy 9 yrs 15,000 mgs meds poer day
woah.. im not the only one suffering from this? before i kknew i had ocd i tot i was a freak and cuden be helped, i am glad some people share the pain , i hope these people can live life happily and enjoy
My sister acuses me of having an OCD because I refuse to touch money, wash my hands all the time, and I WILL NOT use a public bathroom. I don't have OCD I'm just aware that public places and things that lots of other people touch should be left ALONE!
@erinsteffens sounds lime u fear and may havea touch of it mny ocd people like catherine zeta jones r ashame and deny it but its real i make my parents perfom rituals to live im killin them but i cant stop:(saw tis people eatin todaythey had napkins wrapped all around the ketup bottle salt pepper shake even comin out the bathrokm they used thier elbows to gte out instead of touching it ,but it kinda good u know eatin and others touchin in public resuatrantsbound to have deasies
i have pretty bad OCD... but it has nothing to do with washing my hands, but every OCD video somebody washes their hands 100 times a day.... it kinda makes me want to wash my hands! hahah
This is so funny. I am the same. I >KNOW< the door is locked, but I have to check about 12 times just to make sure. It is easy for me to laugh at this film, and yet for the sufferer it is stressful.
@vwls100 With me it's anxiety. I have started keeping a diary to keep check on when I retreat to my coping mechanism (which is CSP or Dermotillomania) and it seems it is almost always triggered by an inability to deal with my stress or tension in a non-destructive way, so I start picking at my skin. It releases the tension, and it's only after you realise how irrational and damaging it truly is. At the time you are almost trance like. I would say then that stress and anxiety are major triggers.
@vwls100 Well it used to be much worse, but talking about it to people has helped alot. Now I only have that reaction to anxiety maybe once a month or so, which is a vast improvement. And I don't let it stop me doing things anymore either. I used to be very worried about what people thought of how I looked, but I have come to realise now I'm not in my teens that people don't notice the tiny imperfections that I notice, so there's no need to beat myself up about it. I'm proud to say I am dealing
i hate it, i had it since i was 7 i used it to cope and be safe etc, i always made rules up in my head for eg: if the fone rings whilst im ocunting to 3 then something bad is goin to happen, if it doesnt me and my family are safe, and id be so scared if the fone rang, i know it sounds mad but thats the waqy i twas
i hate this i have this too, it takes me at least half hour to get out the door when im good and ready to go out, i cry and scream all the time. i have to check the gas hob in case theres leaks, windows doors etc. plugs.
It is often unbelievable how many pretty people have OCD. Our brain tends to get stuck on many things. However, people with OCD are not hopeles. There are some great therapies available, such as the one on solutiontherapiesonline. -c-o-m.
Islam has the solution for the problems of the mankind if you want to know about it please see this video on youtube "curing obsessive compulsory disorder in 3 steps" by zaidg.Or visit his website. May God almighty(ALLAH) help you.
This is due to satan who whispers in your mind in your voice and you think that you are talking to yourself but it is the satan who puts ideas in your mind.So seek refuge from God almighty and do not listen to the satan what he commands you to do. Whenever you listen the voice asking you to which you don't feel to be good just avoid it.
@shereen229 sorry man, but it ain't that easy. Imagen you were tied to a post, and there was a button. You HAD to push this button or the entire world would explode, or everyone you loved would die or something terrid would happen. THAT's what OCD feels like..it's not a sin!
@shereen229 It's not Satan. It's a medical disorder. I have compulsive skin picking and I know why I do it. It's because it's the way my mind has chosen to help me cope with stress. But it is a very unhealthy one and just ends up causing more distress and anxiety in the end. OCD isn't a sin, or some horned boogie man, it is something you should get medical help for. Religion has nothing to do with this really unless you find relaxation through it. Other than that it is not relevant.
Ive Got A Combo Of OCD Bipolar Paranoia And All These Random Negative Emotions... FUCK... & Ive Been Very Delusional And Now Experienced Hallucinations All Started Because Of Hating The World... & Being Anti-Social

I am with you.It is frustrating and depressing at times. You might have heard about simple, but hard to accomplish technique rejecting and ignoring continuous/ fearful/repetitive thoughts. Let me simplify this. Imagine drawing a bridge. With each line drawn,it appears stronger and prominent. Right? And now is a HARDEST part.TAKE an ERASER and start rubbing it out line by line. There are things that triggers obsessive behaviour and by ignoring ('rubbing out') them the OCD bridge can be destroyed

I have a BAD case of ocd ! luckily i get help for it ! I cant take it i HAVE to check over my homework and check it over and check it over ! andi have MANY other anxiety disorders
hi guys i have hocd, fear of turning or being gay. i really hate it, some days i know im straight others i think i may be turning or i am gay. its rally stress full. i have always liked girls when i was in primary school now just before Christmas this started after my last ocd.
This is what happens to me... Ok, so every single time I do something my brain tells me I have to do it a certain way or alter it in someway or else I like freak out and/or think something bad is going to happen. Also whenever I watch a video on YouTube my mouse curser "MUST" be in the exact middle next to the video player. Is this OCD?
@bbabybry While I've been watching videos of OCD, I've been noticing your comments and how we have so much in common haha. When I'm watching a video, I put it on fullscreen and put the mouse on the top right corner. For some reason, something in my head threatens me and says if I don't put it there, my mum would die. Crazy. I know :(
funny how my ocd is much better during the evening, especially before ive taken my evening meds. this is when its dark and been dark for a good few hours and before i take my meds. im trying to get off the anti-depressants.
@Dupe16118 "I never had any large respect for good spelling. That is my feeling yet. Before the spelling-book came with its arbitrary forms, men unconsciously revealed shades of their characters and also added enlightening shades of expression to what they wrote by their spelling, and so it is possible that the spelling-book has been a doubtful benevolence to us." ~ Mark Twain
@supyal19 its not what was said but how it was said...
Sometimes it is all too easy to answer back rapidly to a rude person with an equally rude response...
Maybe it's because I lived in England for 2 years and traveled around the world, that I have no problem understanding what is being said in this video... This is a good video on OCD!!!
@SETIat1420MHz Well, it's a good thing that I'm an atheist, isn't it? It's just a pet peeve of mine. Actually, morel like a " major psychotic fucking hatred." - George Carlin. It just pinches a nerve when I see people not using grammar correctly.
@IstillOwnAvcr If you look at my channel you will see that I'm an atheist too and I know George Carlin was a very wise man. "You may say a cat uses good grammar. Well, a cat does -- but you let a cat get excited once; you let a cat get to pulling fur with another cat on a shed, nights, and you'll hear grammar that will give you the lockjaw. Ignorant people think it's the noise which fighting cats make that is so aggravating, but it ain't so; it's the sickening grammar they use." ~ Mark Twain

I had this OCD variation, it was so FUCKING annoying I feel happy i got over it!
It was really hard... horrible experience. Good luck to all people struggling with this variation, and remember it takes time to get over it but it is possible. Its like a maze you have to figure out, once you figure it out, you get rid of it forever.
@chrispanama What therapy and/or meds did you do to succesfully beat the OCD? I have been suffering from OCD for 13 years now, and would be quite happy if I could leave it behind. I tried Anafranil, Seroxat, Seroquel, ... Several types of therapies. But it's like always seeking new ways to establish itself. There seems to be no escape sometimes, I know there is a solution but it's quite a struggle to find the right combination of therapy and/or medication.
@CrackedPleasures Ok first of all DONT TAKE PILLS! You have to train your brain to deal with the problem, pills wont let you deal with it. Analogically talking, what pills do is they transform a lion to a bunny (The OCD variation). But when the effect is over, that bunny will be a lion again. So what you have to do is accept this problem is a lion and learn to get over it with cognitive behavioral therapy. I talked for a couple of months to a OCD specialist called Steve Philipson though skype.
@killsarawr I'm going through the same thing. I've suffered from it for almost 5.5 years. My parents originally knew but they think I'm over it. I know I'm not. I'm trying to stop and am on the right track. You must convince yourself first that these wild things your imagining are not real or your blowing them out of proportion. That's what I have done. You can use that for a reference when you want to perform the rituals or you have the compulsions.
@killsarawr After I posted my comments from last night, I told my parents that I still had OCD and they were really supportive and gave me suggestions to what I should do to calm myself down if I have the urge to perform the rituals or have the compulsions. I think the easiest way of going about telling your parents is just telling them from the start of the conversation that you have OCD. That way they know that for certain and can help you.
jesus fucking christ,I know theres many different accents/dialects but do they have to be so extreme with it? Take people from Louisiana for example. Wod yew lak ta ga kiel us a hawg den we cud haiv er seilvez a ber b cue,by god!!!
@DigitalxxxScream I'm pretty sure they cannot help the way their dialect is. Just like I cannot help mine. Everyone has accents, it's the way it is. You just don't identify your own because you're so used to it. .____.
I've had OCD all my life, even as a young child, at times daily life is pretty much impossible. People don't realise how stressful this is, this isn't some "pity poor me" bollocks, this condition is horrendous, I literally cant get out of bed sometimes. currently getting cognitive behaviour therapy on the NHS, watchin these vids helps as well, especially hearing cute girls talk about it. So cheers AJM84!
@thelegendofcarsley i have the same problem i cant get out of the bed, my thoughts come back every now and then if i havent figured a thought out or said a certain thought a number of times, it comes back and haunts me and says,"umm hey arent you supposed to say me 3 more times because you didnt do it last night?"
I lock my car 3-4 times every time. If I have an itch I can scratch it multiple times even if it doesn't itch anymore. I clear my throat constantly. When I yawn, if the pressure in my ear feels a little funny, I try to yawn again and again on purpose to try and fix it. While writing this comment, before clicking "post", I red it again several times just be sure it made sense....
@T0rche but when it comes to the "disease" side of things... I have NO problem whatsoever... I can drink out of people's glasses or shake their hands no problem.... I'm more like the 1st lady with the door
some dude on here was like people with ocd are dumb because they should just be able to stop doing it! then he goes i had rituals for 5mins....dude that's MILD! try 2 plus hours stuck in a room because you keep going back and forth over the door threshold. or how about 4 hours to get ready for school because you cant stop washing your hands. you experience that and then try saying its easy to get over it. there's some ocd sufferers who cant even get out of their house. aah the ignorance!!!!!!!

@karahershey
You have a nice voice, by the way.

We have all the rights to be angry , I never asked for a problem like this but yet I have it, and yet I choose to be happy and you know what, you should too.

Do any of u suffer frm some of the thoughts that Ive shared?
hotmale6879 5 months ago
OCD is so bad I wish i could substitute it for cancer. I actually developed OCD symptoms as late as when i was 28. One of my worst fears became that i will myself cause some kind of accident while driving especially on single lane roads. It came as a shock to me because I loved driving. Ive still been driving for more than 100k miles, and the OCD is now much weaker, although I may never be able to enjoy. My OCD triggers as soon as any object or vehicle passes by.

i had OCD until one day i saw how stupid it is...seriously if people with ocd wanna get cured just stop being a dumbass and get over it
305BallerEJ 7 months ago
@305BallerEJ than you didn't really have ocd. most people with ocd recognise that what their doing is strange and irrational, but it's a mentall problem so they can't just stop it. they aren't being stupid, they have chemical inbalances in their brains, if you just decided to stop than either your ocd was practically non existant, or you never really had it, you were just one of those people going around saying that they're "ocd like that". although usually their behavior is closer to ocpd...
AlbinoBlueSquirrel 6 months ago
@AlbinoBlueSquirrel i know what you mean, but trust me i really did have it. i used to spend 5 minutes opening and closing doors because i didnt touch them right or because i felt like if i didnt do it just right my day would be fucked up or something bad would happen to me. and thats just one of the things i used to do....i also used to count my steps in my head and count almost everything. until this day sometimes i get urges to ritual but i thank God he gave me the will power to get past it.

She disagreed.

rmmiller1998 8 months ago

I had OCD until I was about 12. I did an assortment of things such as washing my hands alot. I got over it and it wasn't really all that big of deal. Wasn't that hard, just takes discipline and self control. To be honest, if you cant get over OCD, you lack character and discipline.

i have a small case of OCD, i think.
well, i have the repetive behavior, like if i touch lets say a door knob with my right hand, i have to touch it with my left hand. and theres MANY things similar to that, i'm 13 too. also if i look at something, i have to look at it a couple of times, until it feels right. and i absolutly hate capital letters. and i have to put periods at the end of sentences, or like my name at school. theres many more.

For me, I hate germs, can't turn off lights or unplug stuff without it doing it about 4 or so times until I feel safe about doing it and don't think of anything bad while doing it. I also like to say things that sound good, with K's, L's, G's. Ex. if i unplug a light and think of someone dying or a swear, I plug it in again b4 I unplug it

speaking to others about it does help and knowledge is power, so don't hide in fear.

Why do some people feel the urge to do these compulsive things in the first place? What causes OCD?
vwls100 10 months ago
@vwls100 With me it's anxiety. I have started keeping a diary to keep check on when I retreat to my coping mechanism (which is CSP or Dermotillomania) and it seems it is almost always triggered by an inability to deal with my stress or tension in a non-destructive way, so I start picking at my skin. It releases the tension, and it's only after you realise how irrational and damaging it truly is. At the time you are almost trance like. I would say then that stress and anxiety are major triggers.
Browncoatt22 10 months ago
@Browncoatt22 Wow that's really tough...I'm sorry you have to go through that every day. You must be really strong :)
vwls100 10 months ago
@vwls100 Well it used to be much worse, but talking about it to people has helped alot. Now I only have that reaction to anxiety maybe once a month or so, which is a vast improvement. And I don't let it stop me doing things anymore either. I used to be very worried about what people thought of how I looked, but I have come to realise now I'm not in my teens that people don't notice the tiny imperfections that I notice, so there's no need to beat myself up about it. I'm proud to say I am dealing

shereen229 11 months ago
This is due to satan who whispers in your mind in your voice and you think that you are talking to yourself but it is the satan who puts ideas in your mind.So seek refuge from God almighty and do not listen to the satan what he commands you to do. Whenever you listen the voice asking you to which you don't feel to be good just avoid it.
shereen229 11 months ago
@shereen229 sorry man, but it ain't that easy. Imagen you were tied to a post, and there was a button. You HAD to push this button or the entire world would explode, or everyone you loved would die or something terrid would happen. THAT's what OCD feels like..it's not a sin!
MangaIpod 11 months ago
@shereen229 It's not Satan. It's a medical disorder. I have compulsive skin picking and I know why I do it. It's because it's the way my mind has chosen to help me cope with stress. But it is a very unhealthy one and just ends up causing more distress and anxiety in the end. OCD isn't a sin, or some horned boogie man, it is something you should get medical help for. Religion has nothing to do with this really unless you find relaxation through it. Other than that it is not relevant.

There are things that triggers obsessive behaviour and by ignoring ('rubbing out') them the OCD bridge can be destroyed

@killsarawr
Why would you be afraid to tell them?
TheWrongLefty 1 year ago
I know have OCD,
but I'm scared to tell my parents. :/
killsarawr 1 year ago
@killsarawr I'm going through the same thing. I've suffered from it for almost 5.5 years. My parents originally knew but they think I'm over it. I know I'm not. I'm trying to stop and am on the right track. You must convince yourself first that these wild things your imagining are not real or your blowing them out of proportion. That's what I have done. You can use that for a reference when you want to perform the rituals or you have the compulsions.

@killsarawr I just keep always telling myself that OCD and what it's trying to do to you isn't real.
HBKvsTazMUDM 1 year ago

DigitalxxxScream 1 year ago
