@mattlattlee First off pendulum is drum and base u fucken retard, second off their one of the pioneers in D&B Rofl, dont act so high mightey, the english didnt invent dubstep the jamicans did kiddo.
you dont have a scooby doo what your on about. come to london, go to fabric/matter on a drum&bass night e.g. hospitality or ram records and then your entitled to an opinion on UK drum and bass geeza. until then shut ya trap.
and to add... all of those artists have NOTHING on good dnb artists like limewax, centaspike, donny, freak crew, etc. Regardless of how oldschool and iconic Ed Rush & Optical are, their sound is crap. I saw Ed Rush/Optical play a couple years in San Francisco and Ed Rush was dropping and REWINDING pendulum tracks from 2005. Fuck that.
I bet you like Hype, and Clipz's new stuff too? If so, then we will have to agree to disagree on what is shit music.
the UK is pushing dnb in new directions, not just the heavy metal dark style you like. ommix are a good example, and dont just look up their tunes on youtube d/l a live set or something. Come to fabric or matter b4 you make your ignorant opinions on the UK.
Ed rush/optical were never that amazin live, but if think their sound is crap then you aint much of a dnb dj. they have a new album out called travel the glaxay go check that out
half right man. Ed rush & optical back in the late 90's - 2001,02 were spinning fuckn sick wax like there was no tomorrow. Best parties ive ever been to. But the uk has gone commercial and put out shit for all the cunts on pingers and coke. It seems that the american scene is like the early Aussie scene (im aussie btw): underground, heavy, BEATS. big ups
@botchalism exactly its not radio friendly in america you need somthing that sound like absolute shit for americans to like it like lady gaga or lil wayne haha
@rikishi0062 Music used to be good in America until media mergers took over Mtv and Clear Water took over half of all radio stations, then music went down the tube. It's more profitable to play a handful of mediocre garbage then to allow grassroot musical geniuses to take root. Nickleback, Creed, Kidrock, Godsmack, all touted and marketed towards the lowest common denominator of white trailor trash. Then all the lil Waynes, lil Bow Wowz, Lil dickheads marketed towards black gutter trash.
it is big here. all the little communities are just so scattered that you don't notice it as much. of course this isn't to say it's as big here as the UK.
is that uptown records?

UK made dnb and then eventually made it shit.
djlowtek 3 years ago
I think that's unfair, I'd prefer to say it was the fatcat label owners that wanted a mainstream sound. Who coincidentally are American.
