@codename617 i think that Solid Snake is a fusion between Snake Pliskin (appearance, Big Boss's eye patch,name, similarity between the mission in shadow moses and Pliskin's mission in New York) and Rambo (bandana, colonel Campbell, and being Big Boss an expert of guerrilla).
