They CAN NOT digivolve if they are tired or run low on energy. If their energy gets too low, they de-digivolve to the next lowest stage. Pokemon evolve by gaining experience out in the wild, by battling an opponent's Pokemon, and by use of elemental stones.

Strangely enough, I also have a bootleg game which is called Digimon Ruby, however, mine is a grey Game Boy Colour cartridge, not a GBA one, and it is about the first season of Digimon. The bad translations in both are very similar, including the habit of calling the digimon strange things like 'seed-beast' for Tanemon ect. so I think it's the same company behind both of them.

...Why are there tildes in the battle messages? I could at least understand it in the dialogue (it's a pretty standard way to show that someone's stretching out a word in Japanese and Chinese), but in the battle messages?!

Maybe they want us to read it like some sort of wrestling announcer. "Diger beast out recruuuuited Air Buuuuuuulb!"

The town music seems to have a bizarre glitch-- the bass line somehow gets out of sync with the rest of the music when it loops! It's noticeable at 7:13, and *particularly* starting at 7:26.

Hey, that intro music is used in VFame's Digimon Sapphire, too (albeit without the PCM percussion). As if we didn't need further proof of a connection between the two games.

That title music is catchy, though it sounds like it's playing a bit fast! It sounds vaguely familiar to me from somewhere.
