Scales are evil and often wrong especially water retention etc can affect the scale when you've had a good week etc - the zipper test is the best! Keep up with your healthy eating goals and u will get to yr target best of luck x
You're not going to get anywhere if you keep eating fries and stuff like that. Sorry but it's true. You need to show more willpower and stick to the plan. If you want it bad enough, the rest comes easy.
I just found your channel and I have to thank you for sharing your story as you struggle to lose weight. Losing weight is something that consumes you. I was once a victim of this struggle due to the image that we're shown of what ''beauty'' is. I was luckily able to soon overcome that phase and I still am always conscious of eating healthy but just convinced that it is all about health and inner satisfaction, etc. Anyways, thanks again, and I look forward to your videos! :)
I think a lot of people are worried you'll fail, because they don't understand that you wont fail because you've made real life changes..not just been on a diet. Once changes are permanent, you should be fine, because you no longer eat the garbage that got you fat to start with LOL You're more aware of and careful about what you put in your body. I'm sure you'll be fine without the constant hassle of the scale..I haven't been on one since May, and I know I'm still losing :O)
So i am curious are you still weighing in but just not posting. If that is the case thats cool. Totaly understandable. your look great. Also when i go out to eat i do the veggie burger with avocado instead of cheese and get the salad instead of the fries.. or get whatever you want of course.. but those are som easy soultions. You look great cheers.
You know what is good for you & what will yield success for you. Your success thus far dictates that. The fact that you feel relief confirms you made a good choice. If your weigh in doesn't turnout how you had hoped I am sure you will reassess & modify. You did just that before. I think it is refreshing that you pave your own path & aren't scared of change. It is part of what I would like to do for myself. That's part of what gives others courage to do the same, at least that is true for me.
I have been addicted to your videos for the last couple of weeks & I finally have watched all of them! WOW, you have motivated me to start my own weight loss youtube site! My husband and I are spending this Labor Day Weekend documenting how we eat and spend our time, not caring about being healthy. But come Tuesday, it's a whole new way of thinking & living. As you suggested, we will start with small changes. Thanks for all the tips & we hope to be as successful as you have been! Thank you!
I thought it was really odd that you recieved so many messages repremanding you for not weighing in weekly.. I feel like you have come far enough and made enough positive changes that you SHOULD be able to stop doing weekly weigh ins... You're not gonna wanna weigh in every week for the rest of your life, are u? LOL
I would hope we are all striving for the day we no longer have to step on the scale to judge our progress or self worth.
you look great. i love your vids and have been going through all of them. you really inspire me to just keep going! but for raw foods and stuff, how would you eat like green beans or bok choy? would you just eat these veggies completely like how they are in the store? thanks!
Shanti, I absolutely agree with you about weighing in once a month, rather than once a week! There are so many biological reasons why you could gain on a week where your eating was impeccable and your exercise was in check. The monthly weigh in will just demonstrate a steady decrease on the scale, and I know that's what you're going for. I don't comment all that often, but I always watch your videos and take something from each and every one of them. I respect you very much :)
a month allows me more time to balance and not worry how a bad day will affect me ..weekly a bad made me panic and me think its aother screwed up week
Oh my goodness. I totally support your less weighing. I imagine it's such a mind-clarifying tool, especially since you are really in tune with the changes in your body!
Shanti, shanti, shanti. I completely admire your dedication and self-awareness you show in every single endeavor.
you look so beautiful! I can't congratulate your enough on your accomplishment. It's so awesome. You've COMPLETELY inspired me to begin this wonderful process.I'm one week in the eating healthier and exercising..and I already feel so much better about myself. THANK YOU!
Dont even worry about the comments and weighing in every week. Since youve reached your first goal its good to lay back for a bit and work on trying to maintain it. To see if you can keep up your weight loss throughout the variables of life (vacations, not having a gym etc) and without counting every single calorie. Most people at a healthy weight dont weigh in every week, they make healthy choices and work out regularly. Once every few weeks is all you need to stay on track. Good luck!
I think it's the best thing in the world to stick to plan without a scale. It is so liberating, and you get back to just enjoying how you feel exercising. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself!
Girl biting your lip is shit. Glad you didn't bite tongue. You know what I am talking about girl...the venom...neeeh you must have immunity to it. So as I was saying I am glad you didn't bite tongue cause if you did you wouldn't have rambled for 8:12 mins girl. I just love idiots telling me what to do regarding my weight loss journey. Girl...WTF? Is it me or you really changed? The bitch I know you used to be would have told them to fuck off. OMG, girl???
OMG! Biting your lip is the worst!!!! And just as annoying as burning your tongue!!! Makes it so much harder to enjoy food when your mouth hurts!! :(
This will sound like a dumb question...is All Bran considered non preservative? The ingredients are: Wheat bran, sugar, barley malt extract, salt, vitamins and mineral (iron).
I'm not sure about this 'barley malt extract' and I've tried googling it but cannot understand what on earth the definitions are going on about! lol
Do what works best for you antishay, you clearly know what your doing, and have done awesome so far:-)
Plus tha scales is a less honest measurment than say your jeans, because food resting in your stomach and water retention (not to mention "womens" problems) can take pounds on or off either way:-)
Maybe you just need to get motivated again so that you don't feel like that towards dinner time. Maybe there's some sort of relay coming up in your area that you can train for. That might help you get motivated. Or maybe there's an event that you know you're going to that you want to buy a nice new dress for. And you could stay motivated knowing you want to look really awesome in that dress. Just a few ideas. Good luck and I hope you find your motivation.
this is actually true. if you look at people in europe compared to people in america, it becomes even more obvious. of course europeans can get that face too, but it's less COMMON. not like it is in america where 9/10 people have it.
I notice it in myself so easy. Not when I used to eat crap all the time, but now when I don't eat bread or pasta and high carb stuff like that. Once in a while (like two days ago) I eat a large pizza with fries, yes you read that correctly, and my face feels all swollen up and feels saggy. I hate it, its like proof you didn't eat well and it can last for days.
Have you ever heard of the term "carb face"? It happens when people eat alot of carbs, it is extra easy to see in people who eat well normaly and then eat alot of not so good things. Face swells up and people almost look ill. You are experiencing it in this video.
actually i think there's more to it then just carbs. i think it has to do with processed foods and fried foods, basically anything processed and crap.
so it's not always on my mind like it was before.. now i am focusing more on what is important and that is inches... i need to lose some more of those.. lol. i feel like i can SEE my body looking slimmer and more toned, and my clothes fit a little better. are a little looser, but not much. and when i measure, it shows no change. how is THAT?
i started to obsess over the scale. i was constantly weighing in. but i don't have an addictive personality. not so much that if i give something up i have withdrawals. so i gave my scale to my mom and dad. i thought that i would take it back. but no. i also thought that i would just weigh in all the time over at their place. but no. it's been about 2 months or so now that i have been without the scale in my home. and i JUST started to weigh on weekends only. sometimes i forget....
that's why i love this book though... it's been a major wakeup call for me. as far as food and how the body works and all that jazz. i like being able to read my body like this. know what did me good and what didn't. i like feeling clean on the inside.. just like washing your hands after working on a greasy car, i like that i know what to do to clean the INSIDE of my body after eating something greasy or something that isn't healthy..
i have a wedding that i'm in.... in 2 weeks.. and i need to lose a SIZE!!!! UGH!!! i don't know what i am going to do.... i got the dress a size smaller on purpose.. it's closer to closing that when i got it, but not enough.. stupid me.. but the one that was supposed to be my size, was too big and of course, there are no in betweens.. i will just have to kick my own ass these next couple of weeks..
You have pretty much "made it" and getting where you are now, heck...everybody knows it is one of the hardest thing to do. I've noticed those who are so close to their goals or reached their goals reacts the same as you. "Why, why? "Tell um that it's human nature"...
Raw is great.I am much older then u but I watch your vids. The lose of weight on your part is great to watch. Its a tough thing to lose weight.I have 35 more to lose.I am south of Seattle .When u lived here where did u live?Lynnwood?
Stressing about your weigh-ins can't be good for you. I think it's a good idea to try weighing yourself once a month. If it ends up not working for you, you can always change. Wishing you success.
You so don't need to weigh in every week girl ..You know what your doing :o) And i think we all know how you feel about stressing about a weigh in! Take care enjoy your time with Family and Friends.. molly
The weigh-in interval is less important than the movement in the right direction.
If we are honest, most of us who have been fat at any point in our lives didn't get that way through a meal out or a visit home--we got that way from eating WAY too much food, and usually the wrong type!
If you are still keeping 60% of your current raw regimen while travelling, I think you're doing pretty well!
Yup, weighing in every week is awful! I forbid myself to get on the scale. I have been working out for 5 months now and I have stepped on the scale 4 times. And you have been doing this for a year and a half, you pretty much have a routine now and you won't fault on your plans, you are a very strong woman!
It's definitely hard to stay on an eating plan when visiting home. I gain everytime I visit my parents. Something about being home with family and the comfort that just makes me tell myself "It's ok to eat this chocolate cake. Ok Sara you can eat another slice too!" You're aware of the eating and things will be back to normal soon. Enjoy the time with family and friends.
I know what u mean about feeling heavy and food not moving, and eating well up until dinner! Pls share w/ us when u figure out the dinner thing - I need help! lol. Btw if weekly weigh-in's are no longer helpful, then all the power to u for stopping! LOL I think some ppl were just experiencing "seperation anxiety". So I'm glad about the check-in's:)
i found more success also with weighing in monthly only and discovered I lost an average of 4 to 5 lbs a month which satisfied me. I need to get back on track. i slacked off the past 3 or 4 months and gained back lbs =(
I absolutely agree that weighing every week, especially when at or near goal, is not for everyone. I found I felt like I was a prisoner to the scale and my life revolved around my weigh in day. I find I have much more balance in my every day eating by doing less frequent weigh ins.
It's kind of silly to weigh in constantly once you've hit goal/gone into maintenance mode. It's usually going to just fluctuate up a pound, down a pound, up half down half. Big woop! The videos shouldn't be "weigh-ins" any longer because you've passed the point of actively/purposely losing and switching into staying the same or toning. I'm saying all this more for comment readers than you of course :P
i just had to say im glad to have found you. and im glad tht u dnt let the scale rule your life. because it can by causing you to worry. im still battling that myself and its hard. but go you anti and dont worry about haters because you have lost a HUGE mount of weight more than most of us
Your doing great Shanti, Id love to see a Raw food Grocery haul you know? Id love to have a broader knowledge of the options for that kind of diet. ^_^ thanks for the upload x
Yeah, I went to Disney and it bound me all up. Got all that out and starting eatting better.... weight came off pretty quick then. :)
I was posting on Nutrisystem a lot. But my time doesn't allow for all the reading and responding. I am doing just as well by not posting!
I just went through all my clothes and am fitting in the clothes I haven't been able to wear in a few years.... felt like I was shopping for new clothes all over again.
hey.. good to see your doing well.. i think you will do well with the next weigh in.. sometimes when we put too much thought and stress into things it stops our bodies reacting properly and when you care a little less we manage to do better.. if i'm making sense lol..
I think that when you are on a weight loss journey, things are bound to change as you do. You have done a fantastic job, and have worked very hard to get where you are. You will figure out how you want the next so called "phase" to go. I am glad you are checking in still, you have really inspired me and so many others. Take care of yourself and Much Love.
I agree that you should stop weighing yourself weekly. It will allow you to be more aware of your body changing. If you're eating raw, not eating too much fats, you should continue to lose. When you stop weighing yourself it gives you MORE incentive to eat well, because you have no other way of knowing how you're doing. Does that make sense? Anywayz its working for me.
I think honestly it s a good thing that you re not willing to be a slave to weigh-in time or the numbers dropping. You re well in tune with your body and that is what matters overall. Eventually that is what we wwl should aim for in the long run...
Do you go back to Seattle to see Shaun? are you trying to work things out with him? you said last video you need to get over Shaun I was just woundering? You look like you are sad I hope you are ok cause we all love you!

i respect you for not weighing in so much
i used to be obsessed with the number on the scale and that destroys you
i would weigh myself in maybe 20 times or more a day and if the number was bad i let that dictate my self respect
your doing great going raw, so dont beat yourself up about not eating the greatest stuff, especially when your traveling
you can do it shanti!
p.s. youve really inspired me to lose weight
THANKYOU :]

Maybe you can take pics of everything you eat for dinner, and post them all in BTYL? just a thought..

That's a good idea, it introduces accountability at least. But also might make you feel too pressured. Hmmmmmm...

The scale is my success gage not my success :)

hey.. good to see your doing well.. i think you will do well with the next weigh in.. sometimes when we put too much thought and stress into things it stops our bodies reacting properly and when you care a little less we manage to do better.. if i'm making sense lol..
