The Thing and The Fly by John Carpenter and David Cronenverg are remakes, don't you know that? they were originally these creaky 50's b-movies that didn't they have the technology or time to do their originals justice back then. The directors behind the 80's updates of both of those grew up with them and decided to remake them to improve on them, they both destroyed the originals and make the originals forgotten
