  • these are interesting remixes, did you use the FL Ultimate Mega Drive Soundfont, or .WAV files again?

  • @figaro589 TFM Music Maker and MilkyTracker for the drums. Though if you have the drum samples, you can just use VGM Music Maker instead.

  • @BaconStein

ahhk, right. did you get the samples from the same guy who you linked me to for the mega mabn X samples, or did you get them elsewhere?

  • I recall Sonic 2 Long Version using 2-Player Emerald Hill as the Wood Zone song. I thought it would've been nice if Wood Zone had it's own theme, and I guess you delivered. Actually, I would've thought it interesting if the hack had a ported version of Wood Man's theme from Mega Man: The Wily Wars. :D

Also, Rock Zone is pretty good. I hear a bit of Capcom influence in there.

  • @ZeroJanitor well S2 had no multiplayer exclusive music in the beginning. There were actually tracks meant to be used for other levels in the game. All the multiplayer levels would use the same music as their single player counterparts.

The S2 Beta used Metroplis for the Wood Zone theme. Many connected Wood Zone with Metroplis as its Past version (due to the fact that Sonic 2 was originally intended to use time travel mechanics, which were later developed and used instead for Sonic CD).

  • @The0nlyKyd I'd figured as much that the multiplayer themes were originally used for the scrapped levels.

One thing I never knew about, though, was if Dust Hill Zone was fake. I think the beta has Dust Hill on it's level select, but the picture released for it was believed to be false.

  • @ZeroJanitor The picture released of a desert was actually intended to be Dust Hill Zone. It was scrapped very early in developement (as was Rock Zone, Winter Zone, and Genocide City Zone/Cyber City Zone).

I remember reading somewhere (I believe SonicRetro) that an interview with someone working with the level confirmed that the desert was actually meant to be Dust Hill Zone. Winter Zone was to be a palette swap of Dust Hill Zone as well.
