If you want to put out the effort, or the money to build the enclosure, this facility will be glad to make it happen. They take volunteers from all walks of life - provided they are competent.
It's the cat's natural behanviour. Are you going to tell a fishing cat NOT to fish. What about all the creatures that have been killed throughout the history of the human race to make sure you are here today. Poor them...dumbass.
Sorry my comment sounds a little harsh, but it's innate behaviour mate, the instinct to hunt. If you're keeping something in capitivity you at least want to emulate that a bit so they don't lose it. The fishing cat would have never have got it's name if it didn't FISH though would it.
The Fishing Cat is a Threatened to Extinct species. People are trying to preserve it's behaviour while in capitivity so perhaps one day when their numbers are enough they can be reintroduced into the wild and there will be more of them.
Now, how many bloody goldfish are their in the world? Besides the goldfish would only be in the tub a short while before it were killed by the cat and eaten. Gawd the cats eat gold fish in the wild- they come from bloody Asia mate.
Seriously, ask yourself this mate would you save a gold fish over a fishing cat?
I don't have a big problem with what's happening here. I was only saying that it would indeed suck 2 b that fish. I fully support the cat's right to act instinctively. Couldn't it actually be more fun for the cat to have to catch the fish from a slightly larger pond or something. perhaps closer simulation to wild conditions? I'm not to worried about it, sorry if you took my comment to seriously.
That's so cute!

is it also the fish's natural behaviour to live in very small and shallow plastic tubs?

Okay lets just get things in perspective here:
The Fishing Cat is a Threatened to Extinct species. People are trying to preserve it's behaviour while in capitivity so perhaps one day when their numbers are enough they can be reintroduced into the wild and there will be more of them.
