My friends and I recently recorded a song called "Nylon Whale" and we would love if you took the time to check it out! It doesn't have much of an Antlers vibe, but we're an indie band looking for support! Thanks and God Bless!
I don’t know if I do, anymore. The song leaves me with these two feelings of both running away from it and wanting it. I’m still shattered, and that is what I take from this song. I am good at hiding it, until I’m unable to force it in and bang! Like a volcano. His voice does that to me, and I don’t know why.
Long story short.. I was at a party the other night, I didn't really want to go but my buddy was like hey man it will be chill so i said fine. We got there and i ended up meeting this chick.. we retired to one of the rooms in the house we were making out things were getting pretty crazy and she stops... pulls out her iphone puts her headphones in my ears plays this song then goes down on me. I woke up in my bed dont know how and i've been looking for this song since AND I FUCKING FOUND IT.
saw them at the show last night in montclair opening for explosions in the sky..gotta admit they were pretty good..couldnt really hear the words..but the vibe was great
I'm really digging the Antlers lately. Does anyone else think the vocal is reminiscent of the Blue Nile? Songs are very well written and orchestrated. I love that I need to slow my "on edge" mind to listen and appreciate the genius of their songs.
Can anyone plz explain how come they still haven't been signed by a famous music company?I mean they are 100 x better than likes of Coldplay or One Republic.
@HereLiesLabel do you know what the lyrics are?... cause based on the lyrics, i don't think the song IS love. it seems to me like it's a description of a guy who doesn't want love but sleeps with a girl and gets hurt from it in the end
@ratlover35 "I've never been in love, but hearing this song makes me feel like I have." I'm guessing that's the part you're trying to tear apart. Let me clarify; It makes me feel like I've been in love, and have been hurt by it. I assumed that was clear when I posted the comment. I apologize for not including that in the comment beforehand. Hospice was 100x better. It's upsetting. The Antlers were my absolute favorite band because of the pain and almost sedative sound scapes. I see a lack of that now. I understand that Peter has likely moved past the pain that created Hospice, but even "In the Attic of the Universe" was more beautiful. As with Uprooted. They are slowly falling into the category of every other indie band out there, when before they stood on their own.
@MilesandScott I totally and completely disagree. Why would you even want the exact same album over again? I don't get people who simply want the same thing over and over from a band. This is the sound of a band growing and continuing to develop. Not everything has to be about dying and pain. The sound scapes are definitely still there. This is a great album, and in my opinion, beats Hospice in terms of songwriting and depth.
@joe3710 Yeah I agree. In fact the band very originally did sound more like this than the hospice sound, so in a way they are just returning with their very older sound and developing it
@joe3710 I don't think the Antlers will ever top Hospice, or maybe even In the Attic of the Universe or Uprooted. That's not an insult; it's more of a compliment. When you make something as emotionally profound as Hospice, it's hard to top something that great. With that said, Burst Apart is a very good album; while it's certainly more upbeat than its predecessor, it's still got that dark feel to it. Which I love. :}
@MilesandScott I kinda see where you're coming from. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something just magical about In The Attic of the Universe and Uprooted, and of course Hospice, although because I also love the other two so much I can't decide what their best album is. Truly unique music, and I don't want them to change from that. This song is good but I want them to go back to their ways.
Not sure how to feel about this album. It's good, but I miss the lo-fi sound from "Hospice". Also i find myself skipping past "Tiptoe" and "Hounds" every time they come on, imo they don't attribute anything to the album.
the cover art moves without moving.. and i am high indeeed
