Every time we lose a chance to save a dear one from whatever pulls them into their eventual demise--either situational or more permanent--I think of this song.
I listened to this song on a loop when I lost one of my dearest friends to her final act--a successful suicide. Understated, it was a most confusing time. I think that's why I still NEED music--like some people need things, or praise, or even food. Music satisfies, rewards, and feeds souls.
When I was a kid my brother bought the CD. I heard this song so often when I was a kid. Listening to this now, I finally understand it. Finally! So true.
I've watched these videos at least five times over by now and I still can't get enough. Actual talent like this is hard to come by. You guys are awesome.
I am proud to say I have met and worked with these guys twice. They are exactly as nice and cool as you would expect them to be from their music. Love BNL!
Awesome man, I will be doing this song soon and uploading. I haven't had the courage to upload any of my work yet, but I'm going to try to do it this weekend. After I do, please listen to it and let me know what you think. I have been practicing your songs for quite a while. Barenaked ladies are on the top of my list.
i hate him. he's too good. and his songs are too beautiful. he makes me soo damn jealous. why arent i that amazing? my songs are great but i will never be as good at him at writing songs or playing them.
song reminds me of my next door neighbour,in 1984 she had her 2nd daughter and had blood transfusion during birth, for years after it she was ill but doctors didnt know what was wrong despite her been tested for everyfing, she was even sectioned in a mental home for some time, she was always complaning about been unwell.eventually in early 07 they traced the illness back to the 1984 bloodtransfusion and it was discovered she had hiv and only had months left to live, lukily rest of family tested neg
the weird thing was that during her years of sickness she suspected hiv and asked for a test but the doctoirs said it wasnt and there was no point, she was always getting hot flushes and had rashes and red circles appearing on her skin,it was only wen she passed out and came round the docs said they suspected hiv,every1 was amazed the husband was negative, very sad story
Stunt is without a doubt one of the best albums on my MP3 and all the songs from that album and others that he did on The Sessions.... Wow.... Just amazing
yea i think it is about aids, the songs very open to different meanings,it can mean alot of things but the 'viral infection' with 'no cure' bit made me think of aids though ppl argue it could be a metaphor for a broken heart, its like the song 'every breath you take' or 'toy sdoldiers',ppl get different meanings from it
I'm fairly certain it's about being in an unhealthy relationship for a long time, and finally having it end, and realizing that it's better that way.
"Viral infection, caused by affection," which I think you guys get the aids part from, seems to say to me that he was sick because he loved her, so he stayed in the situation for so long.

uhm...in s duh v how could you rescue me in a puffy coat and tin boat...abuser of power...at the sake of my sanity...you never wanted to help any thing or one but your record sales
I would like to do something like this. What kind of Microphones did you use. I see people on here a lot and the quality is very poor, but you have good quality to your sound. So could you give me some tips on recording? Please
