Derek Fisher is solid, Vujacic was also solid off the bench, so was Farmar, Turiaf and Bynum. Gasol is an all-star and a legit threat to go for 20/10 a night. Odom is a nice third option. There aren't many weak links on the roster, if any.

Kobe is great player. But if you compare defense between 90's and today. You'll see the defense player can't do anything because the hand checking is not allowed.
If you see 80', 90s NBA, when MJ got a ball, the defense player would start to push his body and broke his balance. There's so different, NBA should allow hand checking again.

First of all the Suns SUCKED this year after they traded for Shaq. It changed the entire dynamic of their team. They went from a fast break team to a team stuck with contrasting syles of players. They were sub .500 after getting Shaq. The Spurs are on the downside of their championship run. They have 4 titles and are getting old. I'm a laker fan. And anyone who watched game 6 objectively will acknowledge that the lakers quit. Kobe quit too. His defense was horrible the whole game and all he did was settle for long jumpshots most of the game. he wasn't aggressive with or without the ball. That's not what phil meant when he said kobe is better with the basketball. Kobe grew up in an era where players have fancy handles. Like and 1 ballers. Kobe can do more tricks with the rock. That doesn't mean he's a better playmaker. That is why kobe averages more turnovers than MJ for his career. It just means that kobe's handles a bit fancier. MJ was a better playmaker than kobe. MJ had 7 triple doubles in a row one yr. He also passed out of double teams better.

You don't even know me. So how the fuck are going to tell me that I'm not a lakers fan? I've been a lakers fan for over 20 yrs. But I'm also a NBA fan. So I watch other players and other teams. I watch every laker game and have been to a few too. I've seen KB play in person and felt like I was the only one cheerin', cuz I was surrounded by a bunch of fake as fans with no passion. KB is a great player. He is just overrated, cuz the stupid media compares him to MJ. And he did quit in game 6.

And I never blamed the lakers losing all on kobe. I just said that kobe played dumb and wasn't smart in the triangle to attack the great celtics defense. Kobe took the most shots, and missed a ton. Kobe also was poor on defense. He was a roamer, when he should of been playing his man honest. He was also lazy on closing out on shooters. We are talking about the best player in the league right? After 12 yrs and 3 titles he shouldn't be making these same mistakes. That's all. It's sad.

I said he should have played better,but one player doesnt make a team and celtics have 3 future hall of famers their defense is the best of the last dekade and if kobe played poor then you have to admit any team against celtics played poor because of their great defense and if you put jordan in this lakers team without a dominant big man(gasol is good but not dominant)and without another hall of famer like pippen,he would have a lot of troubles aswell and u are damn ignorant if u think otherwise

Ppl compare kobe to MJ cuz the NBA and the media are looking for the "Next MJ". Kobe is not even close to MJ. MJ was quicker, more athletic, had more hang time and was more creative around the basket. MJ moved better without the ball and was also better on defense. MJ was more clutch than kobe, had a better IQ and had more of a killer instinct. Kobe isn't close. Kobe just copies a lot of MJ's moves. Has the same coach as MJ and runs the same system. Other than that, there is no comparison.

And Jordan would not have had trouble with the celtics defense. Jordan faced the same type of defense from the pistons and the knicks. Even when his team lost to the pistons in the ECF, Jordan never got shut down like kobe. Jordan always got his. His teammates(ie scottie pippen) wasn't tough enough. I'll tell why MJ wouldn't of struggled against the celtics. Cuz MJ moved better without the ball, he had a better post up game, and he used screens more effectively in the triangle to get open.

No pippen wasn't as tough from 1987-1990 fool. He let the pistons get into his head every fuckin' yr and he disappeared. In 1990 he complained of "migrane" headaches. MJ was never scared of the pistons back then. But pippen was. Despite pippen being scared and inconsistent, MJ still lead the bulls to game 7 of the eastern conference finals in 1989 and 1990. And they never got blown out by 39 points in an elimination game. You just don't get blown out by 39 pts in an "ELIMINATION GAME".

Kobe could of did better against the celtics defense with is skill set. He just gave up a settled for a lot of long jumpers. But if he would of did a better job positioning himself closer to the basket and popping out off a screen from a teammate he would of had a lot more open jumpers instead of contested jumpers. Kobe just isn't smart enough to adjust his game on the fly. Also he didn't do a good job of moving without the ball. He tried to beat the celtics defense off the dribble. DUMB!

he didnt just gave up. he was cut off whenever he tries positioning himself closer to the basket and double teammed off the ball so his teammates couldnt pass him the ball. also when he tries to drive from top of the key he would've been emmidietely double or tripple teammed in order to stop penetration so he would either have to set up for a long jumper or pass the ball to his teammates

Clyde did not cover Penny jackass..Clyde didn't cover the point guard...he covered forwards. The only players, other than Smith to cover Penny was number 10, Sam Cassell, and 17 Mario Elie. If you watch most of the highlights from the series, he routinely beat the slower Cassell. Pull your head out of your ass!

It doesn't matter who penny was assigned to on defense. Clyde was still on the team. Nick Anderson totally disappeared in that series. Houston was just better and more experienced at the time. The magic maybe could of had more success if shaq would of stayed. But MJ was back for 3 more yrs. So you never know. I do know that Penny was a great player before the knee injuries and he wasn't the reason they lost in the finals.

I've seen Penny out play MJ and kobe. As a matter of fact Penny outplayed kobe a couple of games in the 2000 playoffs when he was with the suns. This was after his knee injury. But his knee never was the same and he had several surgeries on it. He never could get back to being fully 100% or even 80%. Penny was one of the great players in the NBA before his injuries. I can't believe you don't agree Cuz any fan of the game back in the 90's would know this. That's crazy.

Penny may have outplayed a young Kobe, but Penny in his prime with a healthy knee couldn't carry Michael Jordan's jock strap! Hell, he couldn't even carry Bird's, Stockton's or Magic Johnson's! I'm not a Kobe fan, but Kobe is far better than Penny ever was. The numbers back that up...before or after his "knee injury" lmao

I never said penny was better than kobe or jordan. I just said that I've seen him out play them occasionally. You said penny hardaway Sucked and that is far from the truth. Penny had 4 surgeries on his knee and it "altered" his career. If penny would of been able to stay healthy, he would of been one of the best to ever play. The same goes for grant hill and antonio mcdyss. Penny hardaway when he was young and healthy didn't suck. That's all I was saying. wow! lol

wow you saw Penny outplay Kobe occasionally! You know what? I saw Powe outplay Kobe in one of the games in the Finals. Does that mean Powe should even be mentioned in the same sentence as Kobe? No! You're a moron for even comparing them. The great ones are still great in spite of their injuries Bobby Orr retired at age 30 from hockey and is still considered the greatest player ever by many hockey fans. He is certainly in the top 4 by anyone's standards. People don't make excuses for him!
