Love this group its a shame they aren't performing together anymore -- I first saw them open for ymsb in tulsa in 2002 I think maybe even 2001 -- got a great recording and Martha signed my minidisc tape -- pretty cool moment for me and one I won't forget soon. Thanks for posting this!
There's a great new version of this by Martha Scanlan on her website. It's the title of a new book by Joyce Carol Oates that quotes the song throughout the novel.
I love Reeltime Travelers. Fantastic clogging and they have such a wonderful roots sound. I saw them at Fly Me to the Moon Saloon in Telluride in 2004.
Oh terrific contribution. I saw this group once at Strawberry Music Festival some years ago, on a little side stage. The crowd was small--off watching bigger names I guess--but they made a strong impression on me. Such beautiful music, very well done. Top notch.
I was very sorry to hear they broke up also. I first saw them as part of the "Great High Mountain Tour" in Lexington, Ky. I thought they stole the show. Heidi Andrade's clogging was the best I've ever seen. I wish someone would put video of that on. I keep hoping to find out that they have replaced Martha Scanlan and continue as The Reeltime Travelers.
ive always loved the Reeltime Travelers. i never even thought to search on youtube for them. brings tears to my eyes and goosebumps to me arms. i appreciate the post--they deserve it
They were the best of the Y2K generation. Very sad to not have them around anymore. I hear the Freight Hoppers are regrouping so maybe these folks will come back someday. They all were Doctors of the their instruments, writing, clogging, and singing "Old-Time". Thanks johnny for catching them this one time. It might be the only video that exists. When I saw them at Sweet Pea in 04, it was right before I started filming. jkh johnhartford-dod-org.

Wow. What happened to them? Is the woman (can't remember her name) singing with anyone? Her voice will make you melt, especially on Hallelujah.

Replace Martha Scanlan? She's the heart and soul of that band, man. Just check out her solo CD...it's magic.

When did they break up? I saw them in Johnson City, TN (where they were formed) a couple years ago, thought they were still around the area.

I imagine it was without Martha Scanlan. She left and formed her own band.

No it was with Martha Scanlan. Don't think I would have remembered the band without her in it
