I got two Etch-a-Sketches the same year (from different relatives) for Christmas when I was a kid. One of them seemed to work better than the other for some reason. I wasn't very good at drawing much of anything other than "buildings" and "stairs", but I actually got very adept at -writing- on it, in cursive.

I have always thought that this was one of the most ingenius toys ever, and it was so much fun to play with. Love that billboard too!
