I LOVE my led 3D mage lite.I have a police explorer and when you run it gets in your way but its nice to have a bigger flashlight for protection and the spot light is nice to spot a bad guy far away.
LED flashlights have come a long way. I just picked up a 3 pack of 1 watt led flashlights from Home Depot that were on clearance. I paid $6 bucks for the 3 pack. They are much brighter than any of the lights in your video. I was very impressed of the light output.
Great video, I bought like ten different models of these ultrafire cree lights on ebay, for the price of one fenix light. I really love them. And if I lose them or they break I don't have to cry. ;-)
Nice, I just bought the new led AA with 77 lumens. It's pretty bad-ass, leaps and bounds ahead of it's predecessor. A $22 flashlight, I bought for $8, because the big-box store I bought it from had labeled it wrong.
Hey Jeff, whats your take on Surefire lights? I am thinking about buying an E2D Defender as I have heard a lot of good things about it (despite the staggering $150 price tag) and really like the look of it. What say you?
Wait wait? There is an led upgrade easily available for the standard mag-lite solitaire? What is it called? I had searched for one a long time ago, but never found one.
i like flashlights, but because most of them are a bit expensive i use a cheap Beghelli, 10€. Isn't the brightest light in the world for sure, just a low wattage led with a reflector, but the nice thing about it is that works with only one 1.5V AA battery, probably has some kind of joule thief to keep the light so bright! i only use half drained batteries and still i get a lot of light out of it.
Anyway nice review of these flashlights! the little one on the right is really nice
this test proove best flashlight are with CREE led , didn't buy another cheap flashlight with 90 led "ultra-bright low watts" because not have bright like CREE LED have
In the market, looking around... thanks for the review.
Suggestion:
Please edit your opening post to include a LISTING of the flashlights being talked about. (instead of relying upon people to watch thru the vid.-Some people have VERY limited bandwidth)
Doing so helps those searching for info on a certain model, helps those in the market who do not have a model #, know what lights are being displayed do a copy and paste from the list into their favorite search engine.
i hate it when people use white LEDs at night next to me. they're so hard on your eyes and when they turn their light off, you can't see shit. i don't care what people use when their alone but when they're with other people they need to ask (if they don't mind if they use a night vision raping white LED) or be considerate and use a red light / filter.
@ishouldplayzelda I AGREE! White led's ruin your night vision and they are just annoying when used in pitch black darkness. You go blind for a while when someone uses led's at night! Good thing this new mini maglite led 2aa has multimode which you can set the flashlight to bright(100%) or dim(25%)
@Bladethepokefreak the strobe is good to disorient a person that may be coming at you or attacking you. the slow strobe is good to leave in camp at night so you can find your way back without using all your batteries up.
The letters SOS are based on the Morse Code System and are procedural signals. The words Save Our Souls or Save Our Ship were added after the fact but the original reason for their use of the three letters in question were their ease of remembrance and use. This is evident by the fact that both letter use three dots or dashes and are the most well known of the signals to date. Hope that helps. :)
@chilbert007 correct. In fact, I'm pretty sure no one thought to associate it with morse code letters until later on, the idea was that you could simply flash a light source in a very easy pattern.
Hey man ive seen many of your videos. they are heaps good mate. I wish i had the paper to get me a decent knife or flashy. I mainly want a leatherman though, top job. good work =]
YEs, surefires are all swert, every model, literally top of the line, the US military uses surefire lights, its just about as good as it gets, but I don't use lights that take CR123's (I dont want to scare anyone, but they can be dangerous) Anyway ALL surefires use them, and all the really nice fenix lights use them too, lol, like your P1D and P3D...
they are high energy lithium batterieas and is missused can explode or vent with dangerous gasses... say if dropped or if you mix one new battery with oen old on or mixing different brands...but I have to say it IS VERY rare...but it still happens, but if it makes you feel better every single one of the US troops over in iraq and afgantstan and almost every police officer these days use these types of batteries so its a commonly used battery in klaw enforcment and in high end flashlights...
@cutlerylover Lights which use multiple cells can indeed pose some [arguably small] risks - but if you're feeling adventurous, you can always try a single cell CR123 light. These don't have the dangers of old cells/mixing/etc. - simple boils down to getting a good brand CR123 (a MUST!).
@holdenccc used surefirfe for 10years there not to expensive now a p6 costs $45 and lasts forever i still have my orginal it took a ak round to the shaft all i did was drill the hole over sived to get ride of the inside bur and it still works and the led bulb cost $20 80 lum 120 hrs run time
You could throw all those lights away now cause they can't even compare with today's lights.

@Bladethepokefreak
RE: What is the Strobe useful for in survival situations?
Same principle as strobes used on Police cars, rescue units, firetrucks, aircraft....
Strobes in a survival situation would increase the chance of rescuers seeing YOU.
Can also be used to blind people at close range
(This said I'd rather have a monetary ON-OFF clicky to blind someone, switch unit off and move to another postion in a hgih stress setting.)
.
