No one sings like John Gary! He has such a warm tenor voice - so easy to listen to. And a big plus was that he deep dives and it shows in his breath control. Check out his Unchained Melody. I have several of his albums on vynal with no way to play them since my record player went caput. Oh well, that's my next project - converting my vynal to digital.
My Dad used to sing this to me when I was little. I'm 59 now, and he passed away 16 years ago, and, I too would give anything if he could sine me this song again...
my mom sang this to me when i was little and replaced to ra loo ra lo raa with to ra loo ra lorelei. this song means so much to so many people. brilliant rendition
@lorchangita I sang it to you too, you know. Trying to get you to calm down outside rehearsal at Cajon Park or at home late at night at bedtime. It fit your name too well not to change a little. Love, Dad
I was kid so long ago,but I remember being sung this and night and too "when Irish Eyes are Smiling' Goes with having love of Irish music. Howe can't we? N
My Grandma has alzheimer's it's the hardest thing EVER! I went to visit her with some family, in the memeory care facility, and it was the day before and the day of St Patty's Day... Well one of the entertainers sang this song, everyone in my family was crying, this song means the world to me, I will sing it to my children and hopefully they will sing it to theirs.... ♥
My dad used to sing this to my brother and I. My brother sang it to his little girl as she passed away, and I did the same when my son passed away. I love this song, but it does make me sad.
John Gary has, in my humble opinion, the greatest voice ever. This is the best version of Too Ra Loo by anyone. His version of Danny Boy is also the best. Unfortunately we've lost him and now the angels get to hear him .
My dad was from ireland and used to sing this to me every night before bed and i always loved it, and now he's passed away and im 24 but i still love it
Corcochion...my heart goes out to you, bless your memories, and your Dad. How lovely for you, to have these memories...You are the one, that is blessed!! I bet listening to this wonderful singer, it's almost like he could walk through the door.
my grandfather sang this to my mom and uncle and they in turn sang it to us kids. While I don't have any yet, my cousin does sing this to her son and daughter.
This song makes me cry no matter how many times I hear it. My Gram used to sing it to me and for as long as I can remember I understood the sadness. At my Gram's funeral I had them play a tape of Gram singing this. I'm sure she enjoyed that. Not everyone gets to sing at their own funeral!
My grandfather used to sing this to me when i was a very little girl... It was a family lullaby in a way because his father sang it to him when he was a little boy. My grandpa would sing thing to me when i was going to bed up at the cabin... I always thought he made it up untill I found it here and he said his dad sang it to him... I wont lie, i started cryin when i heard this, it means so much to me. I love this song with all my heart and sould...
My father, a very tough rugby player, used to get upset by this - his mam used to sing it to him, and she died when he was only 5. We're Welsh, with Cork & Waterford roots. I grew up, adoring my dad & getting upset when he did, when someone in the bar would start singing this. Today would have been my dad's 80th birthday; he died 20yrs' ago. It's still lovely, still upsetting, but it's only me, and youtube and a glass [or two] of champagne. RIP Derrick Walsh; you have been loved, dearly loved. X

What an amazing singer John Gary was. What is more amazing is why he wasn't a lot more popular. Thanks for posting!
