  • one of the best singer ever, and divers

  • No one sings like John Gary! He has such a warm tenor voice - so easy to listen to. And a big plus was that he deep dives and it shows in his breath control. Check out his Unchained Melody. I have several of his albums on vynal with no way to play them since my record player went caput. Oh well, that's my next project - converting my vynal to digital.

  • Beautiful, Salancha John

  • My Dad used to sing this to me when I was little. I'm 59 now, and he passed away 16 years ago, and, I too would give anything if he could sine me this song again...

  • What an amazing singer John Gary was. What is more amazing is why he wasn't a lot more popular. Thanks for posting!

  • @lorchangita I sang it to you too, you know. Trying to get you to calm down outside rehearsal at Cajon Park or at home late at night at bedtime. It fit your name too well not to change a little. Love, Dad

  • John Gary has, in my humble opinion, the greatest voice ever. This is the best version of Too Ra Loo by anyone. His version of Danny Boy is also the best. Unfortunately we've lost him and now the angels get to hear him .

My grandfather used to sing this to me when i was a very little girl... It was a family lullaby in a way because his father sang it to him when he was a little boy. My grandpa would sing thing to me when i was going to bed up at the cabin... I always thought he made it up untill I found it here and he said his dad sang it to him... I wont lie, i started cryin when i heard this, it means so much to me. I love this song with all my heart and sould...

    Its simply amazing!

  • My father, a very tough rugby player, used to get upset by this - his mam used to sing it to him, and she died when he was only 5. We're Welsh, with Cork & Waterford roots. I grew up, adoring my dad & getting upset when he did, when someone in the bar would start singing this. Today would have been my dad's 80th birthday; he died 20yrs' ago. It's still lovely, still upsetting, but it's only me, and youtube and a glass [or two] of champagne. RIP Derrick Walsh; you have been loved, dearly loved. X

  • when i was a kid, I thought my grandma was the one who made the song. lol Years later I found out that it was one many knew!

  • My Irish grandmother used to sing this to me at bedtime many years ago. Thank you!

  • I love this song! one of my favorites ~_^ thank you for sharing!
