  • @SamsungUK Will they be releasing a software update and maybe a gadget which will allow previous Samsung Smart TV's to do this as well.

I don't want to feel conned by Samsung after paying £3000 for a Samsung UE55D8000, that I won't receive any of these features. That's what I thought the app store was for.

Will the evolution kit work with D8000s?

  • provided the TV is making the sound, then it is easy to cancel that out from the sound being heard - this is exactly the same mechanism used by noise cancelling headphones - they have a microphone and they play back a 'negative' version of the same sound to cancel it out.

Most of these things work by having a prefix - like SmartTV - that you have to say each and every time before you say a command.

My main problem with this is that I don't control the channels or the volume through the TV

  • The question is how fine can the system separate voice commands coming in from the user especially with all the surrounding TV noise. Unless there is a method to clearly separate the user's voice from the noise coming out from the TV there is no real use for voice commands.
