Esperanto has it's benefits, and it's not that hard to learn. You will gain something by learning it, and the same goes for any other language. What you should ask yourself is: can I put some effort in learning Esperanto, in order to recieve it's benefits?
Personally, I speak English natively, and Esperanto, Spanish and French as other languages. I love them all, though I prefer Esperanto because it has a very unique culture and doesn't trip me up as often.
Esperanto is a language, thus you can't really make an argument about learning it or not learning it. It's cost-benefit for anyone who would want to learn any language. Latin has benefits, but people may not learn it because of time, or interest, or whatever reason. Same goes for Spanish, Korean, Italian, French and Esperanto, and even Klingon. The question isn't whether you should learn it or not. The question is, do you want to?
@SlipAllCityToy I must conclude you saw a dissenting comment, didn't read it and freely injected your bias as to what I might have said instead of what I did.
@SlipAllCityToy Stop telling me what I am for and against when I haven't said it, nor referenced someone who has.
"And please bear in mind that my critique is aimed at Esperanto's pretensions as a global auxiliary language; if you're a hobbyist polyglot looking for a seventh European language to learn, feel free to waste your spare time on it." ---JBR
Remove your feet from your mouth, you irredeemable cultist.

xibalba . demon . co . uk / jbr / ranto / is one of several sites that makes a much more convincing case not to learn it, at least not as "the IAL".

@HailCthulhu Esperanto is like a cult, and the devout followers are impossible to argue with. Eurocentric is a massive understatement.

@TheMontageBW To argue with, no. To get to understand, yes.
I'm rather partial to this 'Sinsperanto' analogy, a.k.a. Esperanto made in China. *cue point change*

@HailCthulhu
It's really funny how you're trying to rebel against people learning a new language.
LOL
Whether anyone wants to attend those meeting thingys is their own choice.

@HailCthulhu
I read it.
You are against learning a language, disagree with me?
Then you can try to prove otherwise, I'm sure you don't have time for that since it's such a silly issue..
Which is why it's so funny that you're against learning a language.

I don't think you know what a cultist is, and it's funny how you can try your best trying to regulate peoples usage of their spare time.
