I have a 2 month old LG optimus one, is selling it for a bby curve 8520 a good idea/?

@shanxW16 Hi Shanx, it all depends on what you are looking for out of your smartphone experience. You would be leaving the Android operating system and of course the marketplace with it's 400,000+ apps to use BlackBerry. Of course it has its benefits such as BBM and added security but bear in mind the 8520 does not have 3G internet. Hope that helps.

@horapucheta The Galaxy Ace has a better spec - processor/camera etc but it depends on how important the BlackBerry services are to use, such as BBM.

@xQre8v It all depends whether you want the larger amount of apps on offer and more customisation from Android, or services such as BBM from BlackBerry

@xQre8v I would go for an Android device but thats purely because i'm a musician/songwriter and I would need all the apps such as - tuners, pedals, effects, beat creation apps etc.

@iosonoloco I wouldnt say there are many disadvantages to the 8520 as its a great price for a Wi-Fi capable smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. I would say one thing to consider is how important browsing on the move is to you, as there is no 3G connection on this phone.

@Dylan16870 You can download BlackBerry maps as an app I believe, although according to some sources it is blocked on AT&T. As a channel, we are based in the UK so I can't give you a definite on networks outside of the UK

i asked for a blackberry curve 8520 wen i was in da shop and da girl gave it to me but i didnt check if it was da curve 8520 wen i went home to look at sum reviews i noticed in da vids dat sed it was da blackberry curve 8520 had writing at da bottom of da front and a flower thing at da back of da bottom and mine didnt...im not sure if mine is a blackberry 8520 or a blackberry curve 8520????

@JAKE07330 I would say go for the BlackBerry 9300 Curve 3G, or the BlackBerry 9360 which are two more recent, upgraded versions of the BlackBerry 8520

this doesn't have 3G ... but i just wanna ask, will the absence of 3G affect the phone's performance?,,, in what way ? ... cause i'm probably getting one this december .. :)

@constanteARPILLEDA It will not affect the speed of the phones performance. It will just mean that to get high speed internet browsing you will need to be connected to Wi-Fi. The 8520 does have WAP/Edge connectivity, so you can still use internet on the phone when away from Wi-Fi but websites/Facebook etc will take longer to load.

@taytolover Yes you can, many sources claim it can take up to 32GB micro SD although with a card this size you may experience some slowdown to performance. We would recommend up to 16GB. :)

@earnshaw1991 It would be worth checking with the network provider you have decided to go on pay as you go with and see if they do a data or internet 'bolt on'. If you are planning on using up your pay as you go credit for BBM and BlackBerry internet services it really won't last long at all as it is intended as a service for contract users. However don't forget that even on pay as you go, you can use your wi fi connectivity for free, as much as you want :)

@iP2DSharmaVs Quite a lot of people have been asking this. You can connect to your home Wi-Fi for free, Wi-Fi hotspots may charge you to connect. And yes it does have instant messaging and BBM :)

@XXCUTlEXX07 Not at all, you can text any phone on any network. There are not any restrictions like that.  The BlackBerry messenger feature however, is a specific feature for having conversations, sharing pictures etc with only BlackBerry users.

Used to have the samsung genio qwerty then i got the blackberry oh my god even just texting is so much faster with the genio you had to stay on the ''sending'' screen wheras you can exit that on a blackberry and it still sends :D

I have this phone and I love it. Previous phone was a touch screen which I had problems with. Health problems mean I have a slight tremor in one hand which means that texting can be a problem, well it was on a touch screen, but not on this phone, texting us a breeze, I can access emails etc on the move which is great as I am a independent rep for a cosmetics company. I totally love this phone

This phone has all the essentials you need to stay connected to your friends & family via msn facebook email etc., & plays most media formats it's very easy to use although takes a few mins to setup mine is on o2 network & works very well.

picked up my wifi without problems & after setting up blackberry desktop software the device syncs with microsoft outlook nicely keeping everything in order.,
