A style of racing developed and the modern thing is like a retro version. If you see a race in-person it's loud, you can smell the tire/gas fumes, and actually follow the cars. There are lots of kinds of motorsports in USA. If your a F1 fanboy we have indy racing, mudbogs or drag races. just another way to burn up our cheap fuel.

Jeff Gordon has driven a F1 car before in a test with the Williams Team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2003 (With Juan Montoya driving his Stock Car). He was .7 off the times that Schumacher and Montoya hit in a regular race weekend! He is one of the greatest motor sport drivers of all time! 4 championships, 82 wins, 9 road course wins. But all forms of racing are different. To say ONE form of racing is more demanding is fucking stupid! They appeal to fans and sponsors in their own way.

Rossi, Loeb and many a GP2 driver have managed this feat before in a controlled test session environment. It`s going out on a PROPER race weekend, finding those last few tenths of a second, pulling a lap out that will live on forever. 7 tenths is a lifetime in F1, for that sets it apart for me. Jeff Gordon is great too.
