Dude is quite smart, he could've aced this thing, could've done his homework. Instead he walked out with the same inaccessible skits, the dreary, off-kilter monologues, the interviews that showcase his ego rather than trying to find something funny in what people say. Dude is a jackass. I was a HUGE fan of his late night, it's so depressing!
Conan IS naturally funny. His self deprecating style TOTALLY contradicts your statement that he showcases his ego. The problem with Conan is he believes he's naturally funny, he didn't think he'd have to work on his stuff before taking over for the Tonight Show. Dude is quite smart, he could've aced this thing, could've done his homework. Instead he walked out with the same inaccessible skits, the dreary, off-kilter monologues, the interviews that showcase his ego rather than trying to find something funny in what people say. Dude is a jackass. I was a HUGE fan of his late night, it's so depressing!

Conan IS naturally funny. His self deprecating style TOTALLY contradicts your statement that he showcases his ego. He actually does the opposite (he puts himself down more than Palin puts down wildlife). Conan's self-deprecation is uncomfortable for mass audiences, which comes from his not being a naturally funny performer. He interrupts guests who are funnier than him--ego, masked by discomfort.
I used to be a huge fan when I was a teenager long ago...the show never changes and he relies on the same skits.
I don't know how you think he's infinitely deeper, since his and Leno's tricks are inherently the same.
Finally, "monologues are consistently brilliant"--wha? How old are you, kid?

I'm 27 and I've been watching Conan for 13 years. How old are you, grandpa? Conan's improv and delivery prove his brilliance as a performer. I cannot recall him ever interrupting guests that are funnier than himself, only working WITH guests to create a synergistic showing of hilarity. Conan isn't all self-deprecating (and I've never met anyone that was sensitive to it). SAME SKITS?! He sacrificed MOST of his classic characters/skits when he moved. You are out of touch and off base.

If they cancel Lopez tonight, I bet Lopez will be crying and complaining. When they canceled his sit-com, a show I didn't find it very funny, he claimed racism against ABC. Its sad because he used to be one of my favorite comedians, his routine is getting old. Conan is a lot more funnier and isn't obsessed with race.

So he's simply not agreeing with NBC's yet again horrible new plan. How is any of that crying?
