Perhaps you were not greeting because your filming starts with you in boys clothing? Or perhaps you were never asked if you needed help because you looked like an intelligent person who actually went to Wal-Mart with some premeditated purpose, unlike the countless fools I see that wonder from aisle to aisle hoping some 35cent item from China can fill their empty souls/
Complaining about the lack friendly service at walmart makes about as much sense as complaining about high humidity in south florida. You know what you are gonna get when you go there. Under paid workers who are mad that they have to work at walmart. You seriously need to get a hobby. For eight dollars an hour, I am surprised if I make it out of there in one piece.
have you seen customers at wal-mart? you can smell them before you see them, lol. Not to mention if you go into the more dimly lit isles you'd probably get stabbed and raped.
why were there hardly any employees in 1 or the 3 walmarts up in in ND/MN fargo/moorhead there are literally atleast a good 50 employees on the floor and another 5 in the breakroom...
its walmart...get ur shit and get out.. what the fuck is wrong with you...you do not deserve to live on this planet if you cant handle ur self in walmart..
Yeah, the 10 foot rule is good and all, and some employees do TRY to do it. But as a customer, consider that the employees see, hundreds of people each and every day. Saying hello every 10 seconds would drive them nuts. I know, I work in Electronics and its daunting to greet every single person that walks into the department.
As as ex Walmart employee I can tell you it sucks working at Walmart. I probably would've made an attempt to provide better service when I worked there but seeing as I was getting paid so little I didn't think it was worth it to do so. Had I gotten paid better I would've been a better worker. That's how it works in my book. The quality of service increases with the quantity of money I receive.
@thatcrazywolf That's not how it works asshole. You get raises when you've shown you deserve them. Next time you look for a job tell them you work as hard as what you think you're getting paid for and you'll work twice as hard for twice the money. Enjoy the frequent flyer miles on the way out the 10th floor window.
@53moreHP Well, you don't tell them that's what your work ethic is but when you work at Walmart it's really hard to give a shit. Money is the only thing that motivates anyone to work there AND paying more money is likely to encourage less shirking behavior. In economics its called efficiency wages. Henry Ford found that out a long time ago.
are you truly this lonely to have to want an walmart employee to talk to you you might have better luck at an 5 min dating service ..... I use to work at walmart the PPL greater are the ones that say hello to you and for you to have a good day as you leave not everyone else but i will say that here the others do try to carry on a conversation with you but honestly that just really bugs me if i want to talk to someone i will start the conversation other than that STFU and let me get what i need
if you want some attention your going to the wrong place.. the 10 foot rule is outdated when i worked their i did it but i also bitches at old people when they started complaining and that usually set them straight
@MrMustang210 i just think it's kind of patronizing to video tape people who are just trying to get by. they're obviously desperate enough to work there and make some kind of living. i wouldn't bother them.
They put a person at the door for the sole purpose to say "hello" to you. If you have to push an empty shopping cart around Walmart to get people to validate you, you don't need a wrench, you need therapy.
Wrenches are in the "tools" not with the mayonnaise or the disposable douches.
I used to work for Wal-Mart and that rule is a little ridiculous because if all those employees you walked by greeted you; you would get a little annoyed. I always gave people the smile and head nod who looked at me and if they had that distress look on their face I would ask if they needed help. If they had been sitting there for a while, I would ask. But to ask every customer within 10 feet of you is absurd because there is a shitton people at Wal-Mart.
the super walmart i go to or even the regular walmart i go to in the ghetto is the opposite of what your walmart is. i get greeted all the time. but in a big store like that, i don't find it necessary to greet people while they're shopping. if they wanted help then they'd obviously ask for it and they always get that help
Shit, you're lucky if the cashiers even say hello, tell you the total or have a nice day. Going through the entire checkout process without on word is pretty fucked up.
It really does depend on the area. In the 3 stores I frequent most (Mesa and Apache Junction Arizona) the associates are quite friendly and helpful. K-mart and Target are mean spirited. And since Sam has been dead for many years, the 10 ft rule most likely died with him.
I've found it really depends on what part of the country you're in. In California the punks working at Walmart are pretty rude. In Colorado the people working at Walmart tend to be older and a lot more polite.
I gotta say, the Aurora,Missouri Walmart is very friendly. I've never not been Greeted, given a cheery hello, and if that's not enough for you, I've not even once, been unable to find help in that store. I thought the ten foot rule at walmart is to always stay 10 feet away from anyone who shops or works at walmart at all times to avoid venereal disease?
I agree about Home Depot - I had customer service say to me "What do you want me to do, call someone to help you?" My response "No thank-you Leows is 1 mile down the road, I'm sure they are more willing to keep there job. Before leaving I did have her page the MOD (Manager On Duty). Home Depots policy is that if you are caught ignoring a customer it is grounds for termination. I use to work at HD
When Sam died working for the company went to shit. It's the top 5 most profitable company in the world and for those who worked for Walmart before 1999 would agree that there was a huge change in not only discipline but how everyone was treated.
Give them a break. You know how many dipshits (myself included) shop at Walmart. The employee wouldn't be able to get any work done if they have to greet every moron they get within 10 ft of.

I think in the end sam walmart has to be rolling in his grave, his wife is to old to know better and their kids are running this country into the ground . They just care of how to make another dollar . Sam Walmart used to care about america and only stock american items, now try to find anything made in america
Dry your eyes Princess, so the staff who were busy trying to run a business didn't say hello. I hate when shop staff say hello and ask how you are. What business is it of theirs to know of my wellbeing? If I want assistance then I go and ask, otherwise let me shop in peace.
yeah piss on walmart! i worked for them for 6 yrs, almost everyone i worked with was a joke! i hope everything walmart burns to the ground all at the same time!
I dont get it, are you trying to say Walmart isn't overly friendly? Are you going to prove next that Bin Laden wasn't a great guy? Or maybe even that not every vote counts?! Real groundbreaking stuff here.
I think its supposed to be "Anyone within 10 feet that makes eye contact." Or, that's what it should be if it isn't. Day shift employees would never get any work done if that rule was obeyed.
@Dudemanjon18 Really, not at the Targets near where I live, got like 5 stores nearby and I never get greeted, Walmart is the same. It don't bug me at all though. I work retail. I am guessing people who work with customers get sick of saying Hello to Customers who just ignore them, so they just don't greet people anymore, what is the point.
@Rebecca1075 When I worked a Target sales floor we were told to keep an eye out for people that looked like they needed help, but not to approach everyone. If someone asks for help we were to drop what we were doing immediately and assist them. I know I and many of my co-workers were frequently thanked for and complimented on our helpful attitudes, even though we rarely approached anyone directly.
LOL....You need to get a friend... I'll say " HI " to you " HI "...but really..if employees spent all day saying " HI" they would get no work done..and you'd complain the store is a mess and there is nothing on the shelves....For minimum wage...What , do you want ???
It's a big deal that Wal-Mart employee's don't say hello to you?
Lol, you thought buying a wrench at Wal-Mart would make you lose your man status? You already lost it when you decided to film this. What a little bitch.
I hate when shop assistants ask me if I want help. Partly because I know this is a technique they use to identify shoplifters. Approaching a shopper lets them know they are being watched. Usually if person has bad intentions they get spooked. If I need help, I'll flag someone down. Leave me alone while shopping.
over dramatic video, i get the point but shit if u need help ASK SOMEONE, if they dont help u then maybe this would be a great video but otherwise who the fuck cares? if every walmart worker greeted everyone they came within 10 feet of there JOB would be greeting people and nothing more
@snapsalot That's because you have to hold customers hands at Home Depot. You literally have to walk them through the project they're planning if they ask you to. Shit's extremely annoying to do while trying to stock shelves and shit. I used to work for them. Then I got fired for refusing to help 2 black males that couldn't lift one 3 1/2 inch piece of plywood by themselves, and also brought a honda civic to take it home with. I'll never work in retail again, people are too fucking dumb.
@snapsalot No kidding I get kids/employees who don't know crap about tools, lumber, electrical or anything else for that matter I get more help from the ladies working the floral/plant department at home depot than anyone else there.
@snapsalot I go to home depot all the time and they will walk down the isle or yell across the way to ask you if you need help. Walmart just doenst care because they have thousands of customers a day.
How needy are you people that you need to be waited on hand and foot and worshipped when you walk into the store?
I like to be left alone when I'm shopping, I want to get my stuff and get out I'm not there to chat with the employees. If I need help finding something I can usually figure it out for myself, if not I'll come and find you, personally I hate when I get approached multiple times by the employees asking me if I need help finding something.
The Home depot buy me has a sign in the paint dep. that says "If we dot ask you for help you can have a free paint roller kit $10 value." I swear I could walk out of there with one almost every time. I did it ones and the lady was a B I T C H about it. I still got the free roller kit.
you can tell the people who have never had to work in retail. do you think anybody there actually cares about you. dont you thin they might just want to make their money and go home ? how bout you go get a job at walmart or a fast food restaurant or anything and you tell me if you give a shit how my day is
@PHXswag Photographing or videotaping a person without their knowledge or consent may open you up to a lawsuit for invasion of privacy, UNLESS its in a public place, which stores are not. And for the record, it is "you're" not "your". Wow, you are extremely, fucking stupid. Go piss on yourself.
Yeah, like the people who shop at Walmart go there for the great customer service. People who shop at Walmart do so because of the prices, no more, no less.
And your point is? Get a life... i work in retail and i see at least 400+ customers a day.. I have a job to do why would i waste time greeting people LOL
Oh yeah, we all know that when Mom & Pop ran the show you'd get the best treatment. Whether they be sitting there with a shotgun in their hand, telling you to hurry up and buy, or refusing to sell to minorities or people they thought were queer, opening and closing whenever the hell they wanted, upping the price on goods when they knew you needed them. Yeah, Mom & Pop was sooooo much better.
@M1thotyn WHAT THE F%^K planet did you come from? You are THE ONLY person I ever heard that would defend a corporate giant against thousands of private citizens who used to be able to afford to put their kids through college!!!! How many wallmart moms and dads do you think can afford paying for 4 years at Rowan? SHEEP
@tomlacovara Bullshit. My sister works at wal mart as a pharmacy tech, she practically owns her job, has to attend meetings where she has influence over how the pharmacy is ran, and makes 26 dollars an hour + medical. All wal mart employees are well paid, they DON'T make minimum wage, which is 5.15 an hour, the starting wage is 7 some for part time clothes folders, 10+ for new register jockeys, and a fuck of a lot more for people who work there for awhile. Moron.
@tomlacovara oh, did I mention she has a 3 year contract and cant be fired without a severance? Sounds like you're the sheep. Watched a documentary and got all anti-walmart without even doing such exhaustive research as asking a walmart employee what they made or what it was like working there.
@tomlacovara Are you serious? I'm the ONLY person? Are you a fucking recluse? There are many millions of wal mart supporters. Who do you think keeps shopping there and keeping them in business? Haven't you ever wondered why there are no wal mart employee's in your stupid little communist protests? Have you ever bothered talking to them, or do you somehow know you're full of shit and that they'd just tell you to fuck off?
@stratola, I know the video is 3 years old, but did you ever show this to management? It would be interesting to see how they'd have reacted to this video.
Everything has changed with Wal-mart (even the names... it was Walmart when Sam founded it)... every store also had a HUGE sign on the front interior wall that said "BUY AMERICAN"... today 95%+ of the inventory is Chinese. Sam, what went wrong?
I love this video. I don't really want every employee to say hi to me, but MANY times I have walked up to CSM's (Managers) having conversations, and I would sit there and wait for them to finish, then they would acknowlege me. And 99% of the cashiers don't say hi to me. I used to work at Target, and a few gas stations, and I always acknowledged my guests. And I have Aspergers Syndrome, so it is hard for me to do that. And they always make me get out of THEIR way! WTF?
dude i worked at walmart for over 2 years and its is one of the worst places to work for. The managers literally do not give care about anything except making their bonuses which to do so they have to under staff their departments and over work us. When i got my 1 year review my zone manager actually told me ( and i am not joking about this) that I "Took to long with customers". How the hell am i supposed to make all my customers feel that i care about them if if i "take to long with them"
Reality Check...you are a Walmart shopper! You are shopping at a mega discount chain that hardly ever gives employees a full 40 and health benefits. You are lucky the High School dropout teenage mom with a neck tattoo checking out your groceries doesn't get annoyed with your little camera and push you into a empty aisle and stab your cheap ass.
Leave those poor people alone! They are making barely enough to live on and the last thing they need is some A-hole filming them not continually kissing ass. I get annoyed when I walk into a place with a bunch of employees bird-dogging me every few feet...I am a grown man if I need help I will let them know. Whoever filmed this bullshit is probably the same kind of D-bag that walks into a McDonald's and makes special requests on hamburgers that cost only a few dollars.
As a former employee of WALMART INC (Sam's Club) We do have the 10 foot rule... It's not utilized because employees realize that most customers would feel harassed or feel that employees are "clingy"... When I worked at Sam's as a cashier we are supposed to upgrade "members" to The premium membership (Plus) and ask them everytime they are in store.. When they enter, while they shop, and when they checkout. I'm sorry, but Walmart thinks it's "customer service" it's harassment.
If every employee I passed at Walmart asked weather I needed help, I would get annoyed. If I need help, I'm capable of asking. If I was the type of person who wasn't happy unless Walmart employees acknowledged my existence, then I would get a fucking life, or throw my fat fucking as off the nearest cliff...
it's not a myth, I am work there and the 10 foot rule is heavily emphasized in the training, I try to do it, however sometimes there's just too damn much going on to drop everything to probably end up weaving in and out of people for 3-5 minutes trying to lead someone who usually ends up stopping to look at other things or chat it up with friends half way there anyway, it's either that or I'm already helping a customer and don't wanna bug them off by helping another, that rude, understand now?
Fucking STOP SHOPPING AT WALMART!!!! YOU'RE NOT HELPING!!!! BUY AMERICAN WHEN YOU CAN, AND DON'T SHOP AT WALMART AS BEST AS YOU CAN PREVENT YOURSELF FROM DOING SO.
Well although i agree you can never get help with anything when you need it and the customer service suck and there are never enough cashiers but why waste time on this jut do like i did stop shopping there and encourage your friends to do the same
@video0101010 Heres a thought...........I have......and had to walk in circles saying Hello? does anyone work here? and after waiting for nearly 30 minutes I tried to pick up the intercom to ask for someone to electronics. I had 800 bucks in my pocket that i was attempting to buy a TV with When I touched the intercom//.////POOF one showed up to give me hell. I didnt even get to say ATTENTION WALLMART SHOPPERS....DARN!
@video0101010 I agree, any way for some fag pussy to find every little nick to complain about something. Has this guy wondered that maybe no one talked to him because he is a lazy ass piece of shit, who cant ask for help, I bet his mommy still cuts the crust of his bread. Fucking number of pussies and whiners america has is pathetic. Happy late new year from RUSSIA
The only time they ever talk to me is when I try leaving, the greeter usually has the urge to harass me about a receipt after just watching me pay and walk away from the counter which I usually return with catch me you dumb shit as I continue to exit the store.
Are you that lame when you shop at Walmart that you need each and every employee run up and help you? Are you lost? It's Walmart you lame-f*! All Walmarts are the same across the nation. Park, shop, pay, and leave. You're an idiot if you can't do that on your own!
Would you rather him look at you and go off on you? When I worked for Hellmart, I was treated like shit. So, to save myself from dealing with stupid ass customers that asked me "Where's the milk?" when it was literally right next to them, I would just not approach them.
dude, u just want ur ass kissed by an employee, if u have a problem go to management and let them know u have a problem, if ur not happy shopping at walmart cuz they are not kissing ur ass then go somewhere else, i promise u that u wont get ur ass kissed there either!!!!
y'all gotta remember that promise was made by Sam and for those who can remember when he ran the company, it happend. he took pride in selling items made in the USA also, not china. poor guy has to be rollin over every day
The obese cashiers at the Folsom Walmart act genuinely angry when you come to their register, and they refuse to lift even mildly heavy items, like a six pack of soda.
Its just not possible. To you youre seeing us for the first time. WE've seen a million customers a day. Saying Hi to each and everyone of them, not realistic.
The point is i don't give a fuck about others lol, i'm a asshole, and all you little fags take it in the asshole, kind of like the black lady at mcdonalds, shes getting mad and mouthy at me? bitch i said no pickles!
I really feel sorry for the guy who made this video. It must really suck to have a life so shitty and boring that you must walk around Wal-Mart looking for people not doing their jobs... Pathetic you are...

I think in the end sam walmart has to be rolling in his grave, his wife is to old to know better and their kids are running this country into the ground . They just care of how to make another dollar . Sam Walmart used to care about america and only stock american items, now try to find anything made in america

Last time I checked, Walmart is for shopping and not a place to go to get random attention by business employees.
If a Walmart clerk greets me everytime I walk by one, I would think they are crazy or suspect that I am shoplifting or something

Dry your eyes Princess, so the staff who were busy trying to run a business didn't say hello. I hate when shop staff say hello and ask how you are. What business is it of theirs to know of my wellbeing? If I want assistance then I go and ask, otherwise let me shop in peace.

Go to Target~ My store I work at we have guests telling us to leave them alone cause we ask them too many times. "Can I help you find something"
Dudemanjon18 3 weeks ago
@Dudemanjon18 Really, not at the Targets near where I live, got like 5 stores nearby and I never get greeted, Walmart is the same. It don't bug me at all though. I work retail. I am guessing people who work with customers get sick of saying Hello to Customers who just ignore them, so they just don't greet people anymore, what is the point.
Rebecca1075 2 weeks ago
@Rebecca1075 When I worked a Target sales floor we were told to keep an eye out for people that looked like they needed help, but not to approach everyone. If someone asks for help we were to drop what we were doing immediately and assist them. I know I and many of my co-workers were frequently thanked for and complimented on our helpful attitudes, even though we rarely approached anyone directly.

I hate when shop assistants ask me if I want help. Partly because I know this is a technique they use to identify shoplifters. Approaching a shopper lets them know they are being watched. Usually if person has bad intentions they get spooked. If I need help, I'll flag someone down. Leave me alone while shopping.

Moron.
M1thotyn 3 weeks ago
@tomlacovara oh, did I mention she has a 3 year contract and cant be fired without a severance? Sounds like you're the sheep. Watched a documentary and got all anti-walmart without even doing such exhaustive research as asking a walmart employee what they made or what it was like working there.

WTF?

Reality Check...you are a Walmart shopper! You are shopping at a mega discount chain that hardly ever gives employees a full 40 and health benefits. You are lucky the High School dropout teenage mom with a neck tattoo checking out your groceries doesn't get annoyed with your little camera and push you into a empty aisle and stab your cheap ass.
johnathon918 1 month ago
Leave those poor people alone! They are making barely enough to live on and the last thing they need is some A-hole filming them not continually kissing ass. I get annoyed when I walk into a place with a bunch of employees bird-dogging me every few feet...I am a grown man if I need help I will let them know. Whoever filmed this bullshit is probably the same kind of D-bag that walks into a McDonald's and makes special requests on hamburgers that cost only a few dollars.
johnathon918 1 month ago
As a former employee of WALMART INC (Sam's Club) We do have the 10 foot rule... It's not utilized because employees realize that most customers would feel harassed or feel that employees are "clingy"... When I worked at Sam's as a cashier we are supposed to upgrade "members" to The premium membership (Plus) and ask them everytime they are in store.. When they enter, while they shop, and when they checkout. I'm sorry, but Walmart thinks it's "customer service" it's harassment.
JordanGray88 1 month ago
If every employee I passed at Walmart asked weather I needed help, I would get annoyed. If I need help, I'm capable of asking. it's not a myth, I am work there and the 10 foot rule is heavily emphasized in the training, I try to do it, however sometimes there's just too damn much going on to drop everything to probably end up weaving in and out of people for 3-5 minutes trying to lead someone who usually ends up stopping to look at other things or chat it up with friends half way there anyway, it's either that or I'm already helping a customer and don't wanna bug them off by helping another, that rude, understand now?
