The quest is to gather eggs, why or what are you getting them for? Is it because the harpies are evil and they are wreaking havoc so your objective it to thin their numbers by stealing eggs? Or have the harpies done nothing wrong and you need eggs for some other reason and they are just protecting their nests? My final answer requires more info :)

Another thing to try would be to level as holy - it's not bad single target DPS plus you'll be practically invulnerable. Again, you don't have the gear to do that, but it is something to consider.
